Republicans: Bush Rushes Court Pick to Take Heat Off Rove
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20050719/us_nm/bush_court_dc_23

From Reuters, we have the incredibly surprising news that President Bush rushed his Supreme Court nomination process in order to deflect media attention from Turd Blossom:

"Sources said the timing of an announcement had been moved up in part to deflect attention away from a CIA leak controversy that has engulfed Bush's top political adviser, Karl Rove.

'It helps take Rove off the front pages for a week,' one Republican strategist said."

So, let's see: Bush makes one of the most important decisions of his presidency, based on perceived short-term political gain. Yeah, that sounds about right.

1. It is brilliant
Name a Nazi to the court so you can say... see those Democrats won't work with me after all I am a uniter. A huge fight is just what they need and we can't let them get this clown on the court without one.

2. Surprised to hear them admit as much.

Not at all surprised they did it, just surprised at the admission.

And as they said, it changes the headlines for about a week. I noticed in my local paper (Knoxville News Sentinel) that while Roberts was on the front page, Rove and the newly revealed memo were still lurking at the top of page 4. Hopeful it will be back to page one soon.

4. Bush has always acted proud and arrogant
when caught in dirty tricks or political maneuvers. He's lowered the bar to below River Styx for ethical standards in politics. All is fair in love and Bushworld, unless it's being done TO Bush.

3. I wonder how thrilled the Religious Right is going to be?
I know he's a conservative, but I'm not sure he'll be preceived as the wild-eyed originalist/activist that the Fundies were expecting. From my perspective, they got shafted again. Could be trouble for the Republican Syndicate if their Religious Wing decides that Bush has been playing them all along.

'Cuz we know that Bush the Liar found religion when he found his political career.

5. I am not Carl Rove but even I called this one.
junior would have picked Adolf Hitler if he were still alive just to take the heat off Rove and the DSM. Next comes a code Red etc...and so forth.

Gee....I am beginning to think like Rove....pretty scary huh? :sarcasm:

7. This in itself is a confession
that they know that this scandal is very serious for the WH.

'It helps take Rove off the front pages for a week,' one Republican strategist said."

A week is no time and this is not going away.
