Our local right-wing, talk-show host is upset about Roberts' nomination... |

Our local right-wing radio host is insisting that Roberts will NOT side with the pro-lifers.
I don't the host is bluffing either. He's a straight shooter. He even admits to not voting for Junior in 2000. He says he's a strict Constitutionalist, sometimes siding with the Dems, but mostly with Republicans.
He's acknowledged that Roberts said that the Constitution does not guarantee the "right to chose." However, the host's problem is that Roberts said "Roe is the law of the land."
He insists that this indicates Roberts' belief that Roe is an inalienable right--much like life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. He mentioned that "law of the land" is not just rhetoric, it has legal connotations meaning that Roe is now the official view or "law" of the United States.
Furthermore, he mentioned that Roberts qualified his pro-life arguments, by going out of his way to point out that he was merely representing his client.
Has anyone else heard Fundie/pro life reactions to Roberts?
My guess is that Junior nominated him more for his willingness to propagate torture, the scurrilous PNAC agenda, corporate rights over individual rights and other fascist notions.

2. Well, then the hose is obviously an idiot who can't think! |

Roberts is with him all the way!!! Roe doesn't have to be overturned. Just keep chipping away until there are no choices and the same result ensues.
What a moron!!!

He can say Roe is the law of the land as well as I can but it doesn't mean that when he has the power to overturn it he won't. Roe is the law of the land... but for how much longer once he's in? On top of that, his wife is the Exec VP of a anti-choice group called Feminists for Life. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4144763

but then, you said he's RW, so that's redundant.
As an appeals judge, RvW is the law of the land.
It can only be overturned at a higher level, which means the Supreme Court. Which is where he's headed. Once he's there, he will act to negate the previous ruling ASAP. Thus, changing the 'law of the land'.
