Who cares about ROVE?
Poll: Only 50 percent following Rove flap
WASHINGTON, July 20 (UPI) -- A Pew Research Center poll says only 50 percent of the public is closely following reports on White House adviser Karl Rove and the leak about a CIA agent.

But the survey found 58 percent of those closely following the developments and 39 percent of the general public feel Rove should resign because of reports he may have leaked classified information about the uncover agent in violation of federal law.

The poll said Republican support for Rove is tepid, with 42 percent of respondents declining to offer an opinion. Thirty-nine percent said he should not resign.

1. How many of those...
actually pay attention to the news? If you ask a bunch of people whether they're following the SCOTUS nomination, you'd probably see the same 50%. Bullshit wording in my opinion.

2. "39 percent of the general public feel Rove should resign"
Shouldn't that be 70-80%? That's what the polls said earlier this week.

4. That is why Rove has been behind the scenes and not in a public position
That allows him to do the dirty tricks and not appear tied to the regime.
Yesterday a gentleman came into my office and asked me who this Rove character was. Much of America is just finding out that he even exists and what he is up to.
Keep this thing in the news and they all will figure him out sooner or later.
Did people know who the Nixon aids involved in Watergate prior to them being outed?
I am sure that the bu$h regime is horrified that 50% of America knows of Rove.

14. Very sad thing, for sure

I've used the term "it's absolutely Rovian" for over year now.

Americans (especially about half of them, from what I can see) are pathetic- they have no clue what's going on with their leadership. And what's more sad is that they don't care. All they care about is that the 'terrorists don't come to get them'; they can keep their big-screen TV's, three car garages, barcaloungers and SUV's; and that they have what THEY need to live well and don't give a damn about the rest of the world or the people who are suffering in this country.

This segment of the population - the greedy, selfish, insipid beings really do not care what happens to Bush or Rove as long as they get their 'perceived' tax benefits and get to keep every penny they make without paying taxes.

What I don't get is how these people think that their roads and infrastructure is maintained, law enforcement and services are funded, without taxes?

I got into a huge argument in an outdoor restaurant in December, with a fat, 'I got Mine-r' Rethug who was bragging about how much money he made, how he refused to pay taxes, and then of course, bragging 'bout his car. I lit into him about how he expected roads to be maintained without his paying his fair share of taxes.

We live in a liberal town and the wait staff lit into him too then (since by then they knew he'd not tipped them one friggin dime).

It wasn't pretty. I don't think this arrogant, rethug tourist will be back soon.

5. There was another poll just a few days ago that had public awareness
considerably higher than 50%.

I think.

Was I dreaming?

6. I dunno
Polls is polls and can be (usually) worded to get whatever output one wants.

BUT - it doesn't surprise me - half the US doesn't have a clue about jack anyways unless it involves Nascar or the soaps or football...

7. The problem is "weasel words"....
as in "How many are CLOSELY following?"That tells all you need to know about the pollsters leaning...50% is an INCREDIBLY HIGH number...I doubt that 50% identified themselves as "closely" following Watergate even at it's height....

8. You have to make them care by continuing to talk about it.
We need to stop letting the media decide what is important and start talking about whatever we want.

9. That's what I'm
TRYING to do..... I've seen relatively little about him all day....

I even posted some "funnies" abour Rovegate - did you see them? - just to help keep his name from falling off the radar.

11. Strong Numbers For A Summer Without Sharks
These numbers are not bad, actually. No one has actually been charged with anything, and the case is fairly complicated for the general public.

Nevertheless, the situation is clearly not passing the smell test, with even partisans admitting (in their own special way) that this is not something they want to get too involved with.

Finally, think about the influence Judy Woodruff possessed although almost no one in general America watched (admit it, you're a political junkie).
