Bush resents Rove, but needs him. |
|
Remember that film from the 1980s called Back to the Future. In it Michael J. Fox (McFly) goes back to the 1950s and sees that his Dad is the class geek and is always catching shit from Biff, the class asshole. Biff hates McFly Sr. because of what he represents, but at the same time he needs McFly Sr. to do his homework. His academic survival depends on the guy he hates. That's seems to be how it is with Dubya and Rove. Rove is an egghead, brilliant, he's fat, not athletic, maybe gay and not at all a man's man. Bush is more like the class bully: popular, athletic and dead from the neck up. Yet Bush needs Rove and that adds to the resentment. I doubt "Turd Blossom" is an affectionate name.

1. Haha. McFly - knock knock - anybody in there? |

If Bush had a brain he would fear Rove. Rove can throw Bush to the wolves and save his own butt. I don't think Dick needs George around for much more than appearance's sake. If Bush kicks Rove to the kerb - who will do his thinking for him? Reminds me of the Laurel & Hardy movie, "Flying Deuces", where Ollie, depressed over the loss of his girlfriend, tells Stan they must drown together, so Stan won't have to be around and endure the stares of people wondering what he is.

6. I believe he's given up running (knees). |

Supposedly, cycling has replaced it, but I'm not sure I believe that. He looks out of shape, and we only hear about his cycling when someone wants to humanize the beast or when he falls off.
I think exercise, along with superficial religion, offers the discipline he needs to stay (somewhat) sober and functioning. Contrast his earlier life with today -- cheerleading, a little rugby (recall the yearbook photo of Bush punching another player) and -- was it stickball? with his team the 'Nads. That's about it. Big difference from real jocks like Kerry.
