Who's Leaking?
Who's leaking? My money is on the CIA. They are still ticked about being blamed for bad pre-war intelligence when they tried to warn anyone in the WH who would listen. Now Bush & Co are actively dismantling the CIA and FBI, so I think they are likely the sources leaking embarrassing info on the WH -- and believe it, they know where all the bodies are buried! They are royally pissed about:

1) The outing of Plame, which destroyed everything she was working on and endangered everyone she was working with, and made sure that no covert agent would feel secure again (I mean, she was outed by her own country for christ's sake!)

2) The outing of Plames cover company, again by Novak about a week later. It takes them a long time to set up these kind of covers for their NOCs

3) The WH blaming them for the incorrect info on Iraq. The WH demanded that the intelligence fit the policy, then hung the CIA out to dry when the policy was wrong.

4) I don't think the career agents were to happy about Goss' purge of agents not "loyal enough" to the prez

While this is mostly speculation, from what I've read, I believe it to be the case. The CIA wants the WH to take the fall on this, and they aren't afraid to get involved.

1. I also think the CIA is the source for many of the stories
about the case.

3. They no longer control the CIA
Once upon a time, Bush the Smarter was in control. No more. You're right, the spooks WILL extract their revenge.

4. I'd be pissed too, but don't forget Porter Goss.
Word was that there was something of a purge at the CIA awhile back, and a lot of liberals got replaced by conservative people. I wonder what kind of effect that exerts.

5. This would not explain
Judith Miller's refusal to devulge her sources. Why would she want to protect the CIA? Unless she, herself, is CIA?

Or, am I misunderstanding what you are saying?

11. I don't know who......
but I will tell you there are little extra parts to the story being leaked every couple of days. And they are getting coverage. It is almost as if there is a conspiracy to bring **Inc. down. The time story today sourced "former CIA officials" and Walter Pincus. It is the most excited I have been since early on November 2, 2004 when there was a news report that it was gonna be a "Kerry landslide".

12. I totally agree with you...
you too see a consistent and steady pattern....drip,drip,drip
of almost daily leaks and snippets. Somebody is engineering this thing. The CIA wants this administration badly. Theyre like a pit bull on this.

14. powell and armitage, most likely state dept folk who dont trust bush
we saw it already when the ex-state dept intel chief ford testified against bolton in april.

every time the cia decided that iraq was not a threat, the state dept intel group agreed. only the bolton group at state, neo-con politicized factions at CIA and DoD intel led by doug fieth pushed WMDs and/or "programs." even dept of energy said the aluminum tube scare was crap.

according to the senate intel committee report, the state dept had people in most of the meetings about wilson/niger/press cakes. so they too know where the bodies are.
