2. I'm not sure what he's done to get such a high rating.
He's my senator, and I voted for him... but he has yet to distinguish himself, esp. for the #1 slot.

5. The times I have heard him speak, in meetings and sessions, he
always prefaces with "I know I am new on the block...." He stuck me as though he was taking it all in, waiting to learn more, waiting to earn respect. Cautious, like he has a master plan for his career path.

13. I think this poll reflects name recognition
Sen. Obama has had a great deal of media attention and his name has become familiar to many, even though he hasn't done anything of significance yet in the Senate.

In Cornyn's case I have no clue.

He's always been a good little foot soldier for the repug cause. Gay marriage bad. Federal judges bad. War good.

21. Cornyn
Well... in that poll a quarter of the respondents gave the "I don't know" answer. Cornyn is so dispassionate and such a rubber stamp of the Bush administration that he's not going to inspire many people, Republicans or otherwise, to approve of his job performance... or even know who he is. Not a surprise that Kay Bailey is a lot further up than he is.

7. I am a NJ resident and I don't understand
I think Lautenberg is great. Wasn't Survey USA the poll that kept showing NJ competive when it wasn't last year? (When the Eagleton poll (which is the NJ poll I've seen for years) showed Kerry easily ahead.) They may have a systemic problem in NJ, if this is true.

33. could he be talking about the myriad unindicted perjurers?
how many chimp nominees have NOT lied during their nomination proceedings?

BTW, I agree with him....he's from my state, and I'm disappointed in his NONleader approach. he's walking on eggshells, trying to do whatever to fit in as a freshman

a real leader, on the other hand, esPECIALLY amongst all the achordates with whom he serves, should be bold and agressive

be a, well, leader, maybe?

he's most decidedly not

I know, the argument can be made that he's new, and has to prove himself, but what has he done since taking office? He's keeping a VERY low profile, for one who made the keynote speech at the Achordate National Convention

why?

what's his relationship to the DLC, btw?

Every time I hear someone say how low Shrubs ratings are, they follow it up with "the rathings of the House and Senate are worse, they are in the 30's.

And WHY is Lautenberg so low? I agreed with him every time I've heard him!
