Bolton recess appointment to avoid further questions re: Plame outing |
|
Edited on Mon Aug-01-05 09:30 AM by Inland
Bolton, having been fingered as one of the persons of interest in the Plame outing investigation, can't be put in front of Congress as part of the confirmation process for any further questions. Some smart ass is going to ask what he knew and when he knew it, leaving him to either:
a) refuse to answer on the ground that his activities are none of congress's business, which is somewhere he's gone too many times already, b) take the fifth, hardly a plus anywhere but the white house and the grand jury room, or c) publically testify as to the very matters that the white house has already said are no-comment land.
So no mare confirmation process; Bush makes a recess appointment and there isn't a chance to ask him anything more in the confrimation hearings. Basically Bush sent Bolton to New York to get him out of the way.

2. Bolton shouldn't be allowed to hide |
|
especially if there are any indictments for him. He should be able, through some means, to be removed from his position.

5. He can be impeached, but that's not the point of my OP |
|
My point is that he can't answer any Plame questions that have developed, and won't, now that Congress is out of the way with a recess appointment.

6. With his nomination before Congress, Congress was asking questions. |
|
Congress still had his nomination before it and was still asking questions, in writing, and there may have been hearings.
Bush's appointment takes that away. Now there's only the secret grand jury, and the snowballs chance that the republcian controlled congress will investigate the plame matter and call him as a witness.
Otherwise, he's off to NY.

High speed rail, even.
Bush** sent Bolton to New York because the criminal corporatists will do whatever they want to do and fuck everyone else. We HAVE to bring them down.
