Bush cut off his nose to spite his face
I think this was a terrible mistake on Shrub's part. Why piss off senate democrats when we have him by the family jewels? Why is he going to give us the finger by using this recess appointment when he needs us to help confirm Roberts? I don't understand his thought process here, anyone care to explain?

1. I will tell you what is going on.
Bush does not need the support of anyone except the Armed Foces.

19. Roberts will be confirmed anyway? Bush would need another recess
to appoint Roberts, I doubt if it's such a done deal. Dems will have the time to put Roberts under closer scrutiny, and then there's Rovegate to finish up on in Oct.

Bolton I laugh at, because how can this jerkoff possibly help Bush's falling numbers??

20. There is nothing in Roberts' record as of now
that would jeopardize his nomination. He has a record which demonstrates intelligence and competence. Republicans will attempt to minimize his handling of civil rights issues under Reagan as merely doing his job, and they have a point.

In virtually all Roberts' opinions and briefs that are available, he does an excellent job of arguing on his client's behalf. That really tells us nothing about his personal beliefs, but if we were to assume that Roberts' "client" would be the US Constitution, I think we could do a lot worse.

A lot of questions to be asked though.

He assumes that he is the supreme ruler of the land and will
get what ever he wants.
And to this point he has for the most part.

6. I only wish we had him by the ba**s. WE DON'T.
And he knows that! His loyal Pubs will use the nuke option if they have to, just to get their leader what he wants!

I think it was a mistake for Shrub to appoint this AH to the Un, but for a different reason! I think Bolton is going to emparrass the Country and it's leaders! I'm just waiting for Fitz to indite Bolton and several others! I wwant to see Bolton bring down this WH along with him!

14. Thnik Watergate!
You may be too young, but I'm not. For a long time, I really thought none of the scandals were going to stick to this WH. Just like the Teflon Don! But I have changed my mind. Fitz isn't letting go! He's been described as "a mad dog who grabs onto his subject and won't let go until he wins". Today is August already, and the GJ term is up in Oct, so we're coming down to the home streach here. The entire Party was disgraced during Watergate, and I think that's what we're about to see here soon.

7. The Democrats are a 99lb weakling. Bush knows that.
He'll kick sand in our faces until we actually kick back. Roberts will be easily confirmed. Our "leaders" won't fight back. The sheeple don't care about Bolton.

Bush gets his way on virtually every issue except Social Security. The Democrats dissed again.

8. He did it because he can
He is a dictator wannabe and will use his power to do what ever he damn well pleases no matter what the opposition. The more they protest, the more he is determined to "give the finger" to them and go ahead anyway. Its as simple as that! He is a simpleton albeit a dangerous simpleton. Its not that hard to figure it out.

10. The time has come the Walrus said,
To speak of many things,
Of bombs and leaks and Downing Street,
And oil and Iranian Kings.

And that is probably why bush had to appoint the Walrus.

12. What's great is that the Dems didn't have to spend any political capital
They didn't have to fight a protracted fight and look obstructionist, so when they have to do it on another issue, it won't be as annoying. (Of course, this presumes there's anyone in this country who hasn't decided whose side he/she's on already...)

Besides, it's only right that a screaming, hate-filled asshole represent this country in the world forum.

What does that mean? Do you think Bush will suffer as a result of this? If so, how?

Will the Republican candidates get less votes in 2006?

Will Bush have to resign after Bolton makes a pass at an ambassador's wife after threatening to invade her husbands's country?

Was meinst du?

Chto eto?

18. quote
Jesus Christ almight he just nominated (forced) Atilla the Hun to a position that traditionally has had some importance and influence. Either it's a case where *'s stubborn, reformed alcoholic mindset will not allow him to be flexible, or Bolton has so much on him that it's in Bush's best interest to see Bolton in the UN. He's not thinking about the country, peace or our future (the body), but merely his own narrow political goals (the leg). The irony is that the leg cannot live without the body.

16. He's never had to suffer
consequences for anything why should he worry about this? The dems can't do anything but talk and very few even do that. Look at all he got passed with the help of the dems? Energy bill, CAFTA, drilling in ANWAR. Social Security is the only thing the dems have stuck together on so far. He's gotten most of his judges through, Gonzoles and Condi were confirmed and Negroponte. What has he suffered?
