Poll question: Who would the DLC support in 2008?
I know, I probably shouldn't focus too much on '08 until after the '06 elections are over. But I was wondering whom DUers thought the Democratic "Leadership" Council would support in 2008.

Suppose all of these candidates - and a couple more progressive Dems, such as Clark or Feingold - entered the 2008 ring. Who might the DLC support

10. "Name recognition" is like "market share"
If it's a lousy market, having a lot of it isn't necessarily a good thing.

2. Tough... They may stay neutral.
Bayh would be their ideal candidate. Hillary has a lot of pull at the DLC. And Warner is another candidate that may interest the DLC.

16. I agree that....
Mark Warner would definitely be stronger than Hillary Clinton in a General Election (especially if, by some fluke, McCain manages to get the GOP nomination).

My point was that Middle America and the "swing voters," fence-sitters, soccer/security moms, and NASCAR dads aren't going to respond very well to the notion that they should be asked to vote for the Democratic nominee in order to get "revenge."

12. Jeb Bush
or some clone of his.

On the other hand, the DLC will wait to see if the Democratic nominee wins the election and if he/she does, the DLC will proclaim that it was their uninspiring regurgitation of a message that won the election.

Don't you know that it was the DLC and not Big Dog's charisma and connection with people that won the elections of 1992 and 1996?
