So you want to research the JFK assasination...
If you could recommend only 1 or 2 books on this topic and maybe a documentary film or 2 which would you recommend?

1. Groden's work is tops.
http://www.jfkmurder.com/

Also Garrison's On the Trail of the Assassins is well done.

Check Fletcher Prouty's website. Prouty was "Man X" in Stone's JFK.

Crossfire is another good book.

Gerald Posner is a shill for the conpirators. Read him for comic relief.

2. start with the Real History Archives and ASSASSINATIONS

There are lots of great books on JFK and lots of bad ones. Good place to start is with Lisa Pease as your guide:

http://www.webcom.com/~lpease/index.htm

You'll also want to read Dick Russell's "The Man Who Knew Too Much" (now in a new edition) and Gaeton Fonzi's "Last Investigation."

If you want to learn the truth about October Surprise - the covert and treasonous coup d'etat that launched the Reagan era, executed by George Bush the Elder - Bob Parry's website and books are indispensable:

peace - but never give up the struggle

3. Links to PBS stories on the assassination:
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/white_house/kennedy/

It has links to Warren Commission report, Zapruder's film, LBJ's diary, and Oswald documentary from Frontline, etc.

6. JFK II (video)
Does an excellent job. I highly recommend it. Answers a lot of questions about evidence, motive-means-opportunity, names, and how Lee Harvey Oswald fits into all of it.

Without spoiling the really good stuff. Here's a few trailers I made from my copy.

Part I

Part II

Part III

Part IV

Part V

7. Two come immediately to mind: 'Best Evidence by David Lifton....and
'High Treason' by Harrison Livingstone (I believe that's the author's name..it's been awhile!) Excellent , informative, and well-documented reads!

8. There are two roads you can go down
when researching the JFK case. On the one hand you have the Warren Commission supporters who vouch for the Lone Nut, Magic Bullet theory and you have the multiple shooters scenarios, aka "Conspiracy Theorists" as the detractors would put it. Having said that, Groden's book, The Killing Of A President" is a great place to start. It covers a good deal of the main topics and people involved, plus there are a ton of pictures. After that there are as many theories as there are colors in the rainbow.
Oliver Stone's JFK give you one take on it. The PBS series The Men Who Killed Kennedy is a really good and interesting series of documentary type shows. In the end you can be sure of only one thing, and that is, JFK was murdered in cold blood on Nov. 22, 1963 on Elm St in Dallas, Texas at about 12:30 p.m. There are people who have dedicated their whole lives to trying to unravel the JFK mystery. My hat's off to those who seek the truth.
