WASHINGTON, Aug. 1 /U.S. Newswire/ -- This week, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Events in the coming days will also highlight the Act's continued importance and the need to reauthorize these celebrated principles enshrined into law to ensure voting rights for all Americans regardless of race, gender or economic status. As part of the celebration of the right of all Americans to participate in the political process, DNC Chairman Howard Dean will make remarks on the Act to the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) in Birmingham, AL and the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) in Atlanta, GA this week. Democrats across the country will be encouraged to contact their elected officials and ask them to support the Act, as well as write their local newspapers to show their own support for this historic legislation. The DNC website will feature blog posts from Rev. Jesse Jackson, Rep. Mike Honda and many other elected officials.

This historic legislation codified the rights we still hold dear and is as relevant and necessary today as it was when it gave hope to the burgeoning numbers of Americans who went to the polls to vote despite fear, intimidation and violence," said Dean. 2. DNC celebrates by ignoring election fraud. They're so retro...

In the '60's our party fought proudly for voting rights for black Americans. There was a cost to this and it was paid in the enduring form of Nixon's "Southern Strategy."

Now we've got elections that are stolen. Florida 2000 was stolen by the Supreme Court even though we won a majority of the votes and would have won the recount in Florida. 2004 was just stolen outright, much more sophisticated.

I wonder when it will occur to DNC that this Voting Rights Act is the soul of our modern party and that the principles still apply to minorities who routinely have 1-3 million of their presidential votes thrown out due to "spoilage" and also ALL AMERICANS due to the rotten system of electronic voting and tabulation which is done in private through the worst type of outsourcing imaginable; the out-sourcing of our democracy.

Wake up DNC, you're heading over the cliff and you don't even know it.
