Reality check: If Hackett wins, the DLC will claim it proves they're right
They'll say "see, we need to look tougher - - and we can't run those crazy liberals, because they only get 25% of the vote, but moderates like Paul Hackett get 51%!" (knock wood on the outcome)

The DLC will do this every time - - they will spin it so that it's all about them being right.

Book it.

Bush isn't a conservative, Hackett isn't a liberal
I don't give a crap what he is. I like him and I'm praying for a Hackett win!

26. It's the "practically" that makes him so moderate.
Radicals use the f bomb, moderates don't, but nowadays they both mean the same thing.

2. You're probably right.
Changing their message to make it sound like they were always right seems like the sort of thing they would do.

4. No, it won't. Hackett is a DFA candidate. He's one of the Dean dozens.
http://www.democracyforamerica.com/dfa-list.php

Paul Hackett for United States Congress. Paul knows what's at stake for all Americans. As a retired major in the United States Marine Corp, he voluntarily left Ohio to serve in Iraq. As an opponent of the war, Paul answered the call of duty because he knows that America needs leaders who don't shy from adversity. Now, he is running for Congress in the 2nd congressional district of Ohio fighting to promote small business growth, sustainable environmental policy and fiscal responsibility. Help us give Iraq war veterans their first voice in Congress and bring us a step closer to taking our country back in 2006 and 2008. Support Paul Hackett for United States Congress today. The special election is August 2, 2005.

***********

So, if Hackett wins, it proves the DNC and Dean are right and the DLC is wrong and should be banished from the party!

22. I'm a strong Dean man
But you are right. Wes Clark isn't as liberal as I would like, but he is not an insider and he is not afraid to call out corruption when he sees it (relatively speaking, of course).

I would have taken Clark over Kerry in 2004. At least Clark didn't use the party machine to smear another candidate like the establishment Democrats did.

11. search the DLC website for "Hackett"
http://www.dlc.org/search_results.cfm

Search Results for hackett
There are no records that match your criteria!

Meanwhile, look at top of the DNC website:

25. I'm not saying he should lose or that we should want him to lose
I'm saying that the spin wars are coming. The DLC will call anybody who wins a "moderate" and find the facts to fit that description.

All I'm saying is get ready for it.

34. exactly
and the converse of that, if they lose, then they're a liberal.

Take kerry for example. The DLC never complained about him in the primary and then after he loses they say "see we should have nominated a southern moderate instead of that liberal kerry."

13. Fine if Hackett pulls the DLC left
and convinces wussy democratic 'leaders' to start using the sort of in your face confrontational tough talking straight shooting rhetoric that Paul uses - GREAT! Come on board. Start fighting for progressive Democratic values.

We need more opposition party leaders calling the chickenhawks what they are to their faces.

Why is that such a bad idea?
I mean, isn't it about getting those seats back?
in the end, short of illegal or unfair tactics, doesn't the end justify the means.

Which is why Hackett is leading.
