Edited on Tue Aug-02-05 10:47 PM by tk2kewl
If he can take 48% in rethug districts he'll beat DeWine in a walk.

2. screw that.

3. I agree, but it was strong enough to turn some black votes
against Kerry in 2004

prejudice knows no logic. Are jobs more important than what someone does in their personal life, that doesn't affect you?

unless we can turn that around, we are screwed

15. I think if Hackett is running in a high profile Senate race
people will be forced to take sides. It will givee progressives a platform against pukes and the DLC.

Major Hackett was running against all odds in a heavy Rethuglican district.

Wouldn't things be different if ALL of Ohio voted for the U.S. Senate seat?

If he did this good tonight -- definitely, he should run for U.S. Senate!! :bounce:

The only "possible" candidates they were thinking of running were state Sen. Eric Fingerhut and Jerry Springer.

Go for it Paul!!!

12. I was actually
Thinking of proposing this myself. I love Sherrod Brown but I hate him dragging his feet which he always does in these types of situations. I completely agree that Paul Hackett should be Dewine's opponent and I think we on DU should get the ball rollind with a draft Hackett petition

everyone to take sides across the country. He should run!

And, Senator DeWine opposed the ballot initiative.

On Edit - sorry posted in wrong place - this was in response to the earlier post asking "Didn't Ohio already ban that" (Gay Marriage)

I don't think the Repukes can get any more out of that hateful crap if it came down to Hackett/Dewine.

From what I hear, the rest of Ohio is WAY bluer than the district in Mr. Hackett competed. It would seem the Morans could only win if they resurrected Lincoln and had him move to Ohio.

Edit: typo

Edited on Wed Aug-03-05 09:34 AM by Blue Belle
I think he's a great choice, and he's already a familiar face with the come from behind/ underdog persona that people just love. He's made great gains in a heavily republican district, so the ground work has been set... If he had the time to run a proper campaign, and started the ground rolling on his campaign now, I think he'd win in a landslide. :)

22. I don't only want him to run because I think he can win...
I think it would be a race that would capture the entire country's interest and set the debate for all races in '06. And that is what we desperately need -- to control the debate, and shove this illegal war down every republican's throat.

I know he's going back to Iraq soon, but has he talked about running again (more specifically, for Senate)?

That would be awesome.

Bushco can have him whacked there for the price of a sack of groceries.

28. Hackett is an attractive candidate.
His straight spoken style should win him independent votes. By 2006 people will be screaming for relief from the war regime. If the Bush admin is discredited (long overdue) they should take down a lot of Republicans with them.

I agree that Paul will make a great point man in this battle. With a better organization, more financing and his new found name recognition, it sounds like a natural.
