President George W. Bush will address the members of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) during its 32nd Annual Meeting in Grapevine, Texas on Wednesday, Aug. 3.

"President George W. Bush's steadfast commitment to free-markets, and limited government is a hallmark of this organization. It is truly an honor to have the President speak at our Annual Meeting," said Georgia State Representative Earl Ehrhart, ALEC's national chairman.

The conference is being held at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas, Aug.3 to Aug. 5. The President will address the conference attendees during Wednesday's luncheon and will be awarded the Thomas Jefferson Freedom Award.

The Thomas Jefferson Freedom Award is given annually to an individual who has established an exemplary record of accomplishment in advancing the fundamental Jeffersonian principles of free markets, limited government, federalism and individual liberty. Past recipients have included the men and women of the United States Armed Forces, President Ronald Reagan, President George H. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, among others.

4. It seems to me that * has 'grown govt' faster than any president
in recent history. I wouldn't exactly say he respects the bill of rights, either. I'm not even sure he knows the bill of rights. Has he even read the constitution (that he swore on a Bible to uphold/defend)? It doesn't matter. All those pesky little individual rights and liberties just get in the way.

WWJD....he'd probably start another revolution.

8. Why? For plooking Condi?
Torn as he was with the social structure of his upbringing, Jefferson knew right from wrong.

Okay, everybody, heap every award you can think of on this nobody; history will only laugh and cry louder.

blue with ALEC and 911 printed on it.

Another Rove original design, no doubt.

12. What a way to honor Jefferson....
Jefferson was a good honest practical man who had a way of seeing the heart of most issues. To honor his name by nominating a lying treasonous rat fucker like George "fuck 'em up the ass" Bush is a disgrace to his memory and everything he stood for. How dare they? What's next, the Pope will award him with the Jesus Christ Peace Award?

14. Which is why they always hold these things in Dallas **suburbs**
Grapevine is in the neon red area of DFW.

Dallas proper is blue, Dallas County was around 49% Blue back in Nov. The further out you go to the 'burbs, the redder it gets. The only place within Dallas County chimpass can go is Highland Park with the zillionaires (remember his fake rally the eve of the election? That is where the rally was held--ticket only, very orchestrated, indoor event as opposed to an outdoor, open to everyone in the area kind of concert/rally).

The last repuke get together/"fundraiser" was in MY county---Collin County--it's in the top 3 red neocon counties in Texas. That was the one where Perry, KBH, and Horseface Coulter had their dinner (at Southfork Ranch).

Chimp would not DARE go to a public, unorchestrated, open event in Dallas...the SS guys would be carting away everyone in the city.

Ahhhhh, Wasn't Thomas Jefferson an Anti-Federalist?

17. That's just Wonderful...where can this "citizen" sign up" to go to the
ceremony? I've been to Monticello...read all the Jefferson stuff and know about Sally. I was so excited about his "veggie garden" and how many plants he had there. He was an incredible inventor...what a mind. I'm sure Mz. Sally helped him with the "African Culture," of how to grow okra and beans.. Also in how Native Africans were "good workers" because they were immune to Malaria. Maybe he really loved her..because she understood his intelligence and wasn't part of a "system." And, she was probably an excellent partner in giving him many of his ideas and inventions.

Maybe this is why the Chimp gets the "Jefferson Award." Like Jefferson he understood the value of diversification.

I can see why Bush picked Condelezza Rice....She has brains (like Sally had..but she's many generations and education removed and wasn't a DEMOCRAT!!) Let's just forget about what "ordinary African Americans and other "folks" who are immigrants are dealing with." "Little Star" has saved everyone.

Give me a break. :puke:

20. ALEC is the organization that lobbies for right-wing legislation at state
legislatures. They have a very organized program and have been pushing it methodically for years. Most of what they do goes under the radar and people don't know what's going on.

At any time, you can their key priorities being pushed in bills in dozens of state legislatures across the country.

And you can bet that they all help out corporations and harm individual citizens.

One of their classics is to take away EPA regulations from the Federal Level and return them to the states for enforcement. It's so much easier to "roll" a state legislature and keep it under the radar so that the public isn't outraged.

ALEC is evil! But then, that's no surprise, right? If they're giving * an "award", they must be evil too.
