Reid draws from wide pool of donors, including CNOOC
In the first six months of 2005, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., netted $415,000 for his Searchlight Leadership Fund political action committee, drawing from a wide pool of individual and corporate donors.

Among them, political action committees for companies and groups that included:

Lobby firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer and Feld, which represents the Chinese state-controlled oil and gas company CNOOC, which launched a controversial bid to obtain U.S. energy company Unocal.

American Road and Transportation Builders Association, which hailed the $284 billion highway bill Congress approved last week

Caesars Entertainment, Inc. ($5,000), which also gave money to Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev.

3. What's with the Republican talking point?
He's taking money from a highly prestigious law firm, not from the Chinese company.

Taking money from attorneys is not the same thing as taking it from their clients.
