Faux News continues to stagnate in the Rating.....
Once a network that had at least five and maybe ten shows i the top 40 cable programs, has, for at least the last two weeks, placed none...

Over all, the flagship network for the radical right has trouble gaining from outside it's rabid base....

less than 1.5% of Americans turn into the programing during prime time and over all, less that 1 million visit Faux during the day....

So folks....

Faux has hit the wall.....

Most of their spectacular gain was from entering new markets. In 1996, many cable outlets carried only CNN and CNN headline news....

Now, Faux is virtually on every cable outlet....

And no new growth....

3. unless I read it though
cnn and msnbc aren't even listed. Does this mean that their ratings are so low that they are in the list?

faux is the only news show in the list, which doesn't say much for the public

What we need is a true news network, but I doubt we will see that for a long time

8. I don;t think the public can be blamed for not watching
CNN and MSNBC are not news. They are trying to emulate Fox and also go down the primrose path of news as entertainment and "storytelling."

Although i'm a news junkie, I prefer my shallow entertainment straight with no chaser. So I prefer watching Jonathon on Blow Out to CNN trying to tug at my heartstrings and pander to my baser instincts. And if I want to watch a mystery, I prefer the well-written fictions of Law and order to the attempts to exploit the real life tragedies like that women in Aruba.

14. You would have to combine the three
CNN, CNN Headline NEws and MSNBC....

Most people go to other sources throughout the day....

Faux people do as they are told and never stray....

4. As Bush Goes In The Polls, So Goes Fox News......
if things stay on their present course of destruction, we may see single digit support for this evil idiot and his 'news outlet'.

6. i'm not sure...
...i agree with the analysis. ratings for cable news, as they usually do, spiked back in late oct/early nov and now they're back down to normal levels. faux is still miles ahead of cnn and msnbc...msnbc is barely a blip on the radar.

cable news has a pretty limited audience...for a cable news prog to pull 2 million is excellent. i don't really expect growth here, just maintenance. network news still pulls in the most viewers, by far.

not to mention that consumption of news is down overall and spread out over network and cable tv, radio, print, and of course internet.

my point is that while faux is evil, it's still healthy, esp. compared to everybody else.

9. Hmmmm
Maybe if an entire town of blonde haired, blue eyed, big boobed women suddenly dissappeared then their ratings might go back up again. At least for a little while that is. Cuz lord knows that if it weren't for good looking women that are lost, then fox wouldn't have anything to report about.

15. You are correct.
Fox continues it's dominance over the other cable news networks. However, as digital cable and satellite penetration continue to increase there are more and more channels to choose from, therefore the ratings for individual cable channels are diluted.

What's important is relative ratings, not gross ratings, and in that regard, unfortunately, Fox continues to dominate.

19. Here are last night's cable news ratings
FLASH: CABLE NEWS RACE
WED, AUG 3, 2005
TOTAL VIEWERS

FOXNEWS HANNITY/COLMES 2,466,000
FOXNEWS O'REILLY 2,449,000
FOXNEWS GRETA 2,384,000
CNNHN NANCY GRACE 787,000
CNN PAULA ZAHN 604,000
CNN LARRY KING 590,000
CNN AARON BROWN 566,000
MSNBC SCARBOROUGH 339,000
MSNBC TUCERK CARLSON 273,000
MSNBC OLBERMANN 272,000

As you can see from this, Fox news is still dominating the cable news race. Their top shows have three times as many viewers as the nearest competition. Any other conclusion is nothing more than wishful thinking.

17. Faux News is a fad, like the Atkins diet.
Once people see it satisfies a need in the short term but has little or no long-lasting viability, it goes out of style.
