http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8825553 /

What the heck is this?

(Blackwell):

And let me say to the—to the congressmen that the oversight committee of the Bureau of Workers' Comp, where all the scandal has taken place, has five members. Two of those members are Democrats. Two are Republicans, and one is the independent. Do you know one of the Democrats is?

It is Bill Burga, who is the vice president—excuse me—is the president of the whole house AFL-CIO. He is a member of the DNC. He is a member of the Ohio Democratic Party. This is a bipartisan scandal that is going to take responsible and bipartisan leadership to get involved. And I think the first step towards getting to the bottom of the scandal in Columbus is to have guys like Bill Burga resign.

No offense to my union peeps.

at least back in the day, they were corrupt and powerful.

Burga's gotta go. Unions can't afford to be connected with this crap.

7. RE: Blackwell
Having actually met and worked with the "good" Mr. Blackwell, I can tell you he is an egotistical jerk who is only trying to look out for his own best interests, in this case trying to smear some of his own party's shady practices on to the Democrats.

8. Blackwell is just creating a weapon of mass distraction
to get the attention off the real culprits in this mess. The Republicans are in this up to their eyeballs and sinking fast. I am not sure how much the oversight committee had to do with this. Calling it an oversight committee does not mean that it had any real power or that it had any information as to what was going on. I think some of the audits, etc. were not accurate or were not in fact done, but it was made to appear that everything was hunky dory. Burga may be a problem, but the fact that Blackwell says he is makes me think that he is not. Blackwell is not exactly a credible source on anything. The Republicans have been in complete control in Ohio for so long and the Democrats at the state level have few teeth to bite them in the butt. Some counties and cities are in better shape and that will have to be the source for the new statewide Democratic leaders. In the meantime, the big three Rebublicans Blackwell, Montgomery and Petro are each doing what they can to position themselves to be the next governor.

9. He Hasn't Said Anything To Back Up His Allegation
They sit on the oversight committee.

So what?

How much power does that committee have? Their focus is on how worker's comp is handled for the workers, not searching for evidence that congressmen are stealing money behind their backs. How could they possibly know if there are financial shenanigans going on? They aren't auditors. And Bill Burga is one of 5 - so why is he singled out?

This is like the burglar blaming the homeowner whose house he just broke into for the crime because the homeowner didn't lock his door and put a rottweiler in the front yard.

10. The evil SOB
is offering up some talking points to the noise machine. Republicans have control over virtually every aspect of Ohio State Government.
