Gay Democrat Runs For Arkansas Lt. Gov.
by 365Gay.com Newscenter Staff

(Little Rock, Arkansas) Political consultant Drew Pritt has announced he's seeking the Democratic nod to run for Arkansas lieutenant governor.

Two other candidates have already announced their candidacy for the party's nomination - state Senator Tim Wooldridge and former state Representative Mike Hathorn.

Pritt said if he were to become the party nominee and beat the Republican candidate in the November 2006 general election, he would be the first openly gay person elected to statewide office in Arkansas.

But, the 30-year old says he does not want to be known as just the gay candidate.

"I'm running for lieutenant governor because Arkansas' future belongs to all of us, especially in south Arkansas," he said in a news release.

In the 2004 presidential campaign he worked as a field coordinator for retired Gen. Wesley Clark.

Pritt also is a veteran of the Arkansas Army National Guard.

3. Excellent!
We need more gay Americans standing up for their rights and running for office!

The only way to beat the enemy and secure equal rights is to engage and defeat the enemy.

11. I know him
We were talking at the NCCm meet up. He is a great guy with a clear head and focus. The other candidates have their arses so far up their hinny's they can not see daylight. He is the brave one, we talked about running for office and he followed through. Looking forward to trying to send some funds to him, his website is not up yet. You can't help be charmed by him, he really does have the best interest of all Arkansan's(I hope I spelled that right),or else he would not have taken such alarge step, especially at the expense of his privacy. GooooooooooooooooooDrew

15. A while ago I was keeping a list
of people inspired by Gen. Clark to run for public office. I lost track, but it was quite a number. I'm glad you got to meet Drew and talk about this with him.

14. Unlike the GOP who has many many closeted gay members like...
Edited on Fri Aug-05-05 01:34 AM by ClarkUSA
David Drier
Ken Mehlman
Drudge
etcetera

Democrats are a true big tent Party whose members can run for office as who they
really are because we are the Party that embodies the Golden Rule, not like the Pharisees who belong to and support Bush and the GOP.

16. Proud of him for running but promise you Northwest,AR
will beat this into the ground - big time - and it won't just be NW AR - he'll be just another "librul" candidate who happened to serve in the AR National Guard.
