why unidentified soldier and location? and why a soldier buried at sea...i thought that was for sailors?
scroll down to see all

This undated photo released by the U.S. Department of Defense on July 20, 2005 shows sailors carrying a casket of a fallen U.S. soldier during a burial at sea ceremony at an undisclosed location. The faces of the soldiers were obscured in the April 28, 2005 image released by the US Defense Department. The Pentagon has released more uncensored images of the honor guard ceremonies for American war casualties, and agreed to process 'as expeditiously as possible' ongoing Freedom of Information Act requests for such images. This is part of a settlement of the FOIA lawsuit brought by University of Delaware professor Ralph Begleiter, with legal representation from the National Security Archive and the firm of Jenner and Block. BAGHDAD, Iraq -- U.S. officials announced the deaths of five Marines and a sailor in and near the restive city of Ramadi as violence continued to take Iraqi lives Thursday.

The Marines died in a roadside bomb explosion Wednesday; the sailor attached to the Marines' unit, the 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, was killed by small-arms fire the same day.

3. sad
although I'm glad they weren't gory death scenes, I hate it when Duer's post those. (especially with no warning)

These particular photos appear tasteful and at the same time a grim reminder of the cost of war. They should be plastered on the front page of the newspapers and magazines.
