the eventual self-immolation of Neocon reality
Edited on Fri Aug-05-05 04:19 PM by antifaschits
It really was only a matter of time. These things simply do not last forever. It only seems like that at times.

After 8 yrs of Bill Clinton, who, despite their best efforts, managed to remain popular with the majority of Americans, they finally had their chance. They had prepared, practiced, infiltrated and lied to gain control over their own party, and when the time came, they pounced.

The first neocon invasion was not Iraq or Afghanistan. It was the GOP. A small, supremely confident, well-funded and well-organized group of like minded theocrats believed in Leo Strauss' dream and used his theories as their guiding principle. It worked. It was an incredible success. The GOP was emasculated as a moderate, sometimes rational party, and turned into a hyper-patriotic collection of war-mongering, greedy, dishonest fascists. The old GOP may never recover from the body blows it received in the process.

Their plan was brilliant. Attack any GOPer for being too moderate, make "liberal" a swear word, and use the armies of the ultra-religious as their storm troopers. Partly out of self-preservation and partly out of greed, most of the GOP acquiesced to this corporate-styled hostile take-over. No one in the GOP was willing to stand up to them, because they planned ahead well. By that, I mean they had funding, the life blood of any politician.

Jump to 1999. The same organizational powers worked wonders, (not to mention the last vestiges of the anti-Clinton drumbeats for the last 8 yrs) and they managed to steal the heart and soul of an entire nation. Their tactics were scorched earth, their motto was to take no prisoners, or better, to label the press, the Dems, or any opponent as "Liberal". Provide succor to the corporations that funded them, and lower the taxes of the ultra-rich. It was a no-lose plan. Even if they lost the popular vote, they still "won."

The tarnish started to come off immediately. Truth tellers like Colin Powell, Paul O'Neill and other brave souls tried to right the ship as it listed into neoconmanism, but they did not fully realize just what a juggernaut they were dealing with. They never suspected that they were figureheads, to be put out in public, but to be ignored by those truly in power. Powell was chained up by a Bolton. O'Neill, well, their character assassination was perfect, especially with his lisp and accent. (Ignore that he was a genius, honest and ethical)

Just as the whole mess was about to implode, a timely outside force saved the neocons' day. Osama Bin Laden attacked US soil. It was the best thing that ever happened to Team Bush.

Not surprisingly, Americans united, and subconsciously headed for the best organized, most patriotic sounding effort they could find. As president, their erstwhile leader was in a perfect position to take command and talk the big talk. He played his role perfectly. He also guaranteed his neocon aides another four years.

Someplace, hidden deep in some dark, evil neocon office, there exists a poster. "Thank God for Gay Marriage, John Kerry, Al Gore and Osama bin Laden." Two fine men, although flawed candidates, were turned into mush by the neocons. One determined enemy timed his attacks perfectly, and along the way, he saved their collective asses. And one defining issue, played perfectly to scare the normal American into believing that their sons and daughters would soon be forced to french kiss persons of the same sex. No one bothered to point out that they lied about each of these issues.

For these last few years, the democratic party was almost as weak as the MIA original GOP. No one dared complain about the deceit or lies. No one dared complain about Iraq. Of course, by taking over the intel that the dems eventually saw, the Dems were fooled or convinced by neocon spin. They never imagined that the deceit would be so well planned, so deep and so convincing. And even if it wasn't all that convincing, saying no to a wartime president was tantamount to being called traitor. It was though their spines had dissolved into jello. A few brave voices, Howard Dean's in particular, did dare shout about the problems, No, it was safer to toe the neocon line, to try to survive the religious-based attacks, and to ride out the storm. Not for the good of the nation, but from fear and a greedy desire for self-preservation. Only now are a few of the most intellectually honest ones admitting their mistake and standing up to Team Bush. It took them long enough and cost us 1830 innocent deaths of sons and daughters, lives wasted and thrown away as though they were used toilet paper. For what? Halliburton profits, neocon geopolitics and oil. Of course, their neocon friends in Israel were behind them every step of the way.

Now, the tarnish is coming off again, this time in big chunks. The underlying rust, a foundation that is rotten to the core, the endless waves of deceit and misdirection have reappeared on the American radar screen. and NO US citizen likes being played for a fool. We now see that the entire invasion of Iraq was based on a set of well-planned, deliberate and orchestrated lies. Not directed to our enemy, bin Laden, but to the American people themselves.

As truth, justice, morals and ethics begin to seep back into our national psyche, as rational weighing of issues and policies begins to take place spontaneously all over our country, we see that the emperor truly wears no clothes. And worse, his aides and staff are probably traitors to America. Aipac and Plame are only symptoms of a far deeper and darker problem. It goes the the very root of the neocon structure, and like a cancer cell, only chemo or radical surgery can solve.

The only worry we should now have is how to deal with on-going collapse and self-destruction of the religious right and the neoconmen who control this administration. Outing a patriotic citizen doing her job was nothing; they have too much to lose. Would they deliberately risk more american lives and allow something bad to happen to us, simply to regain public support until the end of their term? Probably. Honestly, it pains me to even think that anyone could be so crass, so greedy and so evil, but with these neocons, it appears that such actions constitute their modus operandi.

As this inevitable collapse continues, we must be extremely careful. We have to prepare for their demise. To defend against an evil, injured, crazed animal striking out (against its own country, no less), we need much preparation, planning and cold logic. We have to be ready to take over the operation of government and to throw out these criminals and traitors - if only to preserve our wonderful nation.
As of this moment, every one of their statements must be examined for lies (that is easy) and made public (that is hard). Unfortunately, as part of this neocon take-over, our media has lost its independence. Luckily, we have forums like this, and others, and can still get the message out. Prepare. Beware. And talk. talk to everyone and anyone. Warn them. And prepare for their self-destruction.

It is just that I am pissed. And I still don't see enough democrats in office waking up to the reality of the Bushes.
