An overall Democratic ad idea for 2006
I think something like this should have been done in 04 (although I applaud Kerry for taking the high road), and our last chance to do this will be 06.

Bush is a fucking criminal, and tens of thousands of people are dead because of his lies. That is a perception that is beginning to take hold, I think. If a poll of the US were taken, and only one question were asked, "do you trust bush?" what do you think the results would be? How big a margin would say no, after being forced to think about it (if they hadn't already). I think some people are unaware of just how much they really detest him for the things he's brought about, the betrayals he's handed out.

Imagine man/woman on the street answering that one qusetion. Keep those images in mind.

What if our party, as a national theme to an otherwise more localized campaign, bought billboards and tv time with two ads: 1) Straight forward tv ads which showed people being asked that question, and their responses. " No. No. No." "Why not?" would be the next question, and so it would go each time."I don't trust him because of this or that, not only the war, but absolutely ending with the war, and a ringing of words from a grieving mother as solemn, almost-foreboding music melds into a fade to bush's face which fades in and then out, and we are left with the words on screen, maybe in silence "would you trust him" fades to "with your son?" Fades to "R candidate's name here does." Then, 2) buy billboards with just the phrase "would you trust him with your son?" superimposed over a black and red (maybe) image of bush, just the silhouette, but you know its bush.

That, to me, would be some no holds barred campaigning.

We attack bush, force the R candidates to either defend bush or refuse to do so.

We'd have a separate campaign for those who refused to proclaim their trust for bush, of course. Maybe an awards ceremony?

A possible nationwide Democratic message separate, if better that way, from the local strategies in play.

just thinking out loud, so to speak, in a typing sort of way

1. I thought this was what you were suggesting
as a theme:
"Bush is a fucking criminal, and tens of thousands of people are dead because of his lies."
Probably wouldn't play well in Ohio but I like it.

2. That's only HALF the message
We have to follow it up with an easily understood three-point plan that voters will see as improving their lives. preferably three points that are all part of the same vision of the future.

3. I like it - and let's add "Name one thing Bush did that was good"
