Would you stop Kerry from running for Senate in MA, although he is one of the strongest voices there because he joined a fraterntity when he was a senior in college about 40 years ago? If so, are you from MA? - they might possibly want to keep their Senator who got a mere 81% of the vote in 2002.
It didn't stop him from speaking about how wrong the VN war was, fighting against the Reagan policy of supporting the contras and right wing governments in Central America, and fighting the powers that be in both parties to close down a bank used to aid terrorists. If the values of S&B were bad, Kerry clearly changed in VN and he has fought the Bush family more than anyone I can think of.
