What is the mission in Iraq?

I was just watching This Week and one soldier's father says we must complete the mission.. As I recollect the mission was to depose a tyrannical dictator that could unleash a mushroom cloud upon the United States.Being that the mushroom cloud or any other WMD was not found and we did depose saddam than what is the reasoning for our continued occupation? . If it is to train the Iraqi soldiers why is it taking three years? We train ours in less than a year.

What that poor grieving father thinks is the "mission" in Iraq, I have no earthly idea. By why does he get face time on This Week and Cindy Sheehan, a similarly grieving parent of a dead soldier, not? Because she's drawn the "wrong" conclusion from her son's meaningless death?
