1. Right there on their website. How interesting. Where is the DNC's link |
|
to its Exit Strategy for Iraq? And I know the GOP doesn't have one.

3. Can you summarize their essential points? |
|
I haven't the inclination to read 8 single typed pages.

4. excellent plan ... thanks for posting it ... |
|
i rarely agree with the Libertarian Party but their exit strategy is excellent ...
sitting at the heart of their plan was this very powerful understanding of why continued occupation doesn't make any sense:
"Without the occupation as an outside enemy, those much smaller sectors of the resistance that are motivated largely by religious extremism and who are responsible for some of the worst violence against civilians, will likely become isolated from the broader sectors of the resistance,” the Strategic Studies Institute authors noted." ... the point is that US military presence in Iraq will sustain and feed the violence; it will not "conquer" it ...
the only minor quibbles i have with their plan is: 1. i disagree with using some of the withdrawn forces to remain on US bases throughout the region and 2. i believe their rate of withdrawal, roughly 11,000 per month, is far too slow ...
overall, though, this should be the kind of thinking the Democratic Party supports ...
