Reuters: "As Americans question Iraq policy, Bush crowed about economy"
As Americans question his Iraq policy, Bush crowed about the strength of the U.S. economy on Saturday and credited his hotly debated tax cuts for the growth.

Bush was upbeat in his weekly radio address a day after the Labor Department reported the U.S. economy added 207,000 jobs last month, a stronger-than-expected gain. "Recent economic reports show that our economy is growing faster than any other major industrialized nation," he said from his ranch.

Bush renewed his call for making permanent the tax cuts he pushed through Congress in his first term. Democrats believe the tax cuts have done little more than drain the U.S. budget and even some Republicans doubt the wisdom of extending them.

"The tax relief stimulated economic vitality and growth and it has helped increase revenues to the Treasury," Bush said, adding later, "We need to make the tax relief permanent." Bush spoke at the end of the first week of his 33-day working vacation.

3. He gets his statistics straight from
his Sec. of Labor Elaine Chao, the better half of Mitch McConnell. I wouldn't trust those figures at all. She can BS with the best of them.

6. The economy sucks. We're slowly dying out here in Everyman Land
while bush** and his 'constituency' are doing very well indeed, thanks to his tax cuts.

Go onto a frigging grocery store. Everything you see cost almost a dollar, if not a lot more. Figure 21 meals a week (if you're lucky to get three a day) for everyone in your family. Also figure rent and utilities and transportation. This economy is not booming and for the media to allow these bastards to get away with this lie is truly a crime. It is a sin and a crime against the people of this country. And they know it.

The only reason they're reporting anything bad about this administration now is that it's being reported so blatantly in the foreign press that they can't avoid it anymore. They have truly been forced to tell the little bit of truth that they've told. The rest of the time they are still covering for this administration of war profiteers.

7. This article has a different title on Yahoo; I like yours better
I would have given it a good rating on Yahoo if it had yours. But it's not surprising that he would be focusing on wealth, since accumulating it and distributing it upward to his supportis is all that matters to him. So important that he encouraged us all to go shopping after 9/11.

9. I'd like to see an analysis of the economy
That ignores the top 1% or the top 5% - an analysis that shows what the average working joe experiences. I think it would be telling.
