Air America seems to be getting more mature!
Not as in X rated mature but better, mature.

I haven't really tuned into Air America since it launched. I listened for a month or two but couldn't keep up with the online play and only started to listen again recently.

I was impressed by their new website and it seems like the shows sound more professional and more sharp! Is it just me or has this little station really blossomed with age.

Great news for us. Does anyone know how how well the ratings and finances for the channel are going? Hopefully well.

1. If you listen to the rightwing trash sites...
Air America is doomed to die...

But they're continuing to grow and that's what matters.

The righties always compare Air America to Limpballs.. but what they don't say (or don't remember maybe?) is that he's been on the air SINCE 1988 !!!!!

Big Eddie on the Jones Network is growing by leaps and bounds too! :headbang:

2. I listen to it all the time...
I would like to hear less rants and more news.

The more AAR, presents irrefutable facts, the less the other side can generalize.

Al gets away with way too much self/promotion. But then, maybe he earned it. He does pull in the listners.

3. It has
Air America will never be #1, and that's fine. Talk radio will always be more of a conservative thing than a liberal thing, but at least now our side has its foot in the door. At least there is an alternative out there for people.

The Right said that it would not last 6 months. It has now been 16 months. We are up to 67 stations, after having started at only 10. "Liberal" Clear Channel Communications has opened the door to many new affiliates, recognizing that there is a market for liberal talk radio.

Indeed the broadcast quality of many of the shows has improved (especially Franken), and the Right is clearly scared. If they weren't, do you think they would waste time pissing an moaning about the network?

4. I enjoyed Laura Flanders so much this weekend
Tonight, she interviewed one of the nuns who spent time in jail for their actions at the nuclear silo. What a terrific interview.

Laura does a good job getting great guests for her programs and interviewing them in such a selfless way. Like it's not about Laura but the guest and their field of interest or expertise.

I listen on XM until Malloy is on. Then I stream it from the website. I hope XM gets Malloy on at the right time!

8. Bluestguy: "liberal CChannel"?
Edited on Mon Aug-08-05 02:02 AM by oscar111
Clear Channel is the Hate Radio network. Broadcast Limbaugh for years, losing money, till he got a following.

how can you call it liberal?

as to some CC stations now airing AAR, i sense a trick.

One DU post said Rhodes already is complaining of CC pressure to tone it down. Dont know if the post is true.

--------------------
Another point.. i agree with the earlier re, that the AAR programs that deliver information , are superior to the ones that are mainly emotion.

Flanders and Mallow ... Top notch

I think convertng fencesitters is our best goal.
to do that, information is needed, not mere emotion.

10. You do know that I was kidding?
The word liberal was in quotes, which is understood as a mocking or sarcastic reference.

You are right with what you said about CC. Conservative as the company is, however, they are also a corporation that wants to diversify and make money. The all mightly dollar comes first, conservatism comes second for them. They saw a market for liberal radio, and now they want a piece of it, and they keep signing up more and more affiliates too, so they must be pleased with the results.
