4. She's on AAR
She was on Springer's show this morning. I'm pretty sure she was on Randi on Friday. She was on Laura Flanders over the weekend -- Sunday, I think.

They're covering her, but they're a RADIO network. They don't send cameras to places.

32. Michael Moore is one of those catalyst people
as much as that would be awesome if he could do a documentary about her, he would draw focus from because it would suddenly be a LEFTWING FILMMAKER MICHAEL MOORE hatefest instead of Cindy Sheehan.

10. broke again
and working on finishing the Rove's War DVD..

I REALLY wish I could be there, I heard that there will be some folks there with cameras so there should be SOME footage from it..

I can't get arrested at the moment either, so that sucks too.. I'd need to borrow a lawyer while there :)

If I had the money I'd leave tomorrow and apologise to the Rove's War folks, maybe add it to the dvd..

This looks like a Job for Symbolman, love hearing that, makes me feel needed - I'd give it a go, I hate missing this.. she's the Boy who shouted the Emperor has NO CLOTHES!

Thanks for thinking of me, believe me, I've been biting my lip over this one, hate missing HISTORY in the making - she's a brave soul and she's got them over a barrel.. but one question,

WHERE ARE THE SENATORS AND CONGRESSMEN? THAT pisses me off, they need to be at her side..

11. I disagree
Just my opinion, but I think it's best that the politicians stay out of this one. This protest was started by one citizen and should continue as a "we the people" thing... just folks. I think it sends a stronger message that way. Plus, having politicians there would take the focus off the grieving mother and put it on "the liberal agenda".

12. I disagree
the whole freaking country, ALL the blue staters and the 122 COngressmen and women who signed the DSM letter, along with the 560,000 signatories need to descend on that place and DARE these scumbags to ARREST US ALL.

How do you think Gandi did it? DO you think he stood there by himself? Nope, he engaged an entire country to stand at his side and take blows to the head one after another until the British were SHAMED into handing the country back to it's indigenous people.

I happen to be a gentleman, if a brute is harrassing a lady I will NOT stand idly by. ANd that goes for the rest of us "gentlemen".

Evil wins when good MEN (and WOMEN) stand by and DO NOTHING.

This is someone firing the shot heard round the world, if someone only fired one shot and then the rest of the army didn't come boiling over the hill, then the battle would be LOST.

Believe me, if I had the bucks I'd be there, and I've already proved that I'll travel a third of the way around the planet at the drop of a hat (and with the help of many fine people when broke) to be at important and historical events, so the truth gets out and not the stab the public in the back Major media soundbites.

So I respectfully disagree with you - these bullies operate in GANGS and to fight them you don't bring a plastic butter knife to a gunfight, which in my opinion is why the Dems get their asses handed to themselves regularly.

The right is in lockstep, while we all argue on the left over which special interest we want to represent today - that sucks. IT's time for the left to make the sacrifices, the ones where you FORGET your special interest group, check the ego at the door and STICK TOGETHER for ONE CAUSE. FIGHTING THESE SCUM.

Thanks for your post, I would fight to the death for your right to your opinion :)

26. You ARE right...
Every blasted Democratic politician should be there...NOT to make a name for themselves...but to show the AMERICAN PEOPLE that we STAND FOR SOMETHING...to show SOLIDARITY through ACTIONS, To stand in DEFENCE of one of OUR OWN..To show the PEOPLE who think we DON'T CARE, that we DAMNED SURE DO..and that WE WANT ANSWERS TOO...as to why we were LIED into a WAR...that has cost the lives of over 1800 young men and women..and countless others that will NEVER be the same, for the numbers who have lost limbs, or will be affected mentally for the rest of their lives...WE NEED to know WHY...our troops weren't provided with enough of the necessary and proper equipment...and why BushCo keeps cutting their benefits, while they sacrifice their lives for HIS GD WAR....

When are we going to stop being afraid of what others think of us...???? Does the other side worry about what people think? HELL NO!! WHY are we so damned afraid to be seen doing the RIGHT THING??? WHO cares how it would be perceived by others????

Go Cindy, I am with you in spirit...I live in Wash...my now deceased, previous husband, served two terms in Vietnam...and I couldn't protest then...because he could have been held responsible for my actions...but by GOD, IF I could figure out a way to actually go to Crawford...I would be there...IF only to show SOLIDARITY...I hope there are thousands who can and will...After all, there is safety in numbers...and the more there are, the riskier it gets for Bush, to take any action against any of them.....

14. Who's the politician in the OP?
The media is what ended the Viet Nam war; I'm (just barely) old enough to remember.

It was in our living rooms every night, and so were the protests.

We see a spiffy Hollywood version of a very bloody urban war where the rules have been ignored by both sides, but the American people don't see it.

I sense a talking point. More than that I won't say.

17. Maybe you can use some of the footage others get. Are you going
to DC in September?

I hope so!

I understand about not being able to do EVERYTHING. You've done so much, a lot of it at a moment's notice. There's going to be a chapter devoted to your work in the upcoming book about the Internet revolution, even if I write it myself. :pals:

I wish we had a Progressive Foundation where we could apply for expedited grants for things such as this.

PS I agree about the Dems. I spent hours yesterday writing to my rep and other liberal Democrats, and combing their web sites -- nothing. Not a piddly two paragraph statement, not a little press release offering support.

Well, as this thing grows and they can see which way the wind is blowing they'll be climbing all over themselves to get in front of the cameras. And we'll welcome them for showing up for the party when they do.

24. Man you got that right
too bad some of this 80 million floating around isn't sitting in some kind of slush fund for fools like me that will run at the drop of hat into the dragon's mouth :)

I don't see me being able to go - Binka was talking about starting a "Donate so that Symbolman can go film Cindy since the media ain't" and she was going to pump some major bucks into it to get the ball rolling (what a sweetheart!), but she's in Italy and I'm in Hawaii so we are exactly on the opposite ends of the time zones :) When it's 3am here it's 3pm there..

So she tried to post a Donate to Symbolman to go, but the mods pulled it, you have to have permission to fundraise, and Skinner of course is in HIS time zone (somewhere inbetween us) and busy, so getting permission has basically taken too long, not enough notice to anyone actually -- given one more day I may have been able to swing it..

But for me to cover events I have to leave almost two days (36 hours or so if I don't sleep) ahead of schedule - need better planning..

I wasn't sure how her protest was going to pan out (plus we're living on donations for dvds at the moment) and so rather than pay money I didn't have to show up and find out on the way that she got what she wanted would have been bad..

NOw that it's heated up (as soon as I saw the Arrest talk I told my wife I HAVE TO GO) - I was hoping to get it together, but Bless Binka's heart and generosity as well as those who've helped me before to cover events, the clock is just running out..

I'd literally have to get on a plane in the next 2 hours or so to make it in time to film a bunch before the announced arrest.. with a heavy travel before and after - and who knows where I could stay? I could tent it, but I've got arthritis of the spine so even doing this work kills me, laying in a tent with my back would mean having no wife there to peel me off the floor :)

I hate getting older - people don't think I'm over my late 30's but if they could see the inside it would be like Osmosis Jones..

Thanks for iterating all these great ideas - hope SOMEONE films all this, love to be the one to do it tho, I can ask some pretty pointed questions - I know my stuff :)

GOd bless that woman and everyone that comes to her aid!

13. I just e-mailed them with the suggestion that they send an on-scene
reporter.

Pretty simple to do, here's the URL:

http://www.airamericaradio.com/contact

A phone call or two wouldn't hurt, either. The number's on the page.

20. Radio never had reporters on-scene before; not in WW2, not at Dallas,
Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 06:49 PM by blondeatlast
not in Vietnam. :sarcasm:

Walter Cronkite and others reported live from the scene in WW2. Dan Rather did radio and tv brodadcasts from Viet Nam.

Darlin', I'm old enough to remember two of those--they had reporters. I may have been a toddler, but I remember my mom listening intently to civil rights march reporting and to reports from Dallas and Viet Nam from reporters ON THE SCENE.

Thanks for your "wisdom," I'm not stupid--or naive. :eyes:

FWIW, I didn't suggest cameras--the OP did.

25. I remember one of them. I'm not old enough for WWII,
but even since Vietnam (I was a teenager then), the media landscape has changed considerably. During Vietnam we had 3 TV networks — and only about half an hour of national news a day. During WWII, radio was the only way to go, unless you count newsreels shown in movie theaters — quite a bit of time after the events.

19. Symbolman You Are Correct
I think some politicians should be down there as well. Maybe if a few Democrats met with Cindy, it would make the point that Democrats listen, Rethugs do not. It would also make the point that they are listening to The People, not to a few filthy rich traitors. It would make the point that Cindy deserves Democratic attention, not a bunch of K Street lawyers who only care about how much money they will make off this war and damn the people who are suffering from it.

God I hate these people! <---Mike Malloy says it so well!

My 2 cents

28. Off Topic A little But...I Think I was Tombstoned
Thanks for your comments. Here is the scoop:

I was a member a long time ago and during the 2002 elections, well I think I was what they called "tombstoned". Man I missed you guys! I was a pretty prolific poster then, and I am not sure what I said wrong, if anything. Maybe it was all a mistake, I don't know. Whatever it was, I could not sign on here. So I moved on and, well, I was sad but I thought I was just never going to be on here again.

However I was at Andy Stephenson's funeral and met some wonderful Du-ers there who came from all over the country to tell him good-bye.I knew he loved all you guys and once he encouraged me to try to set up another account, but I did not want to sign in as a different user. I did not think that was right and was very sad about it all. As I wrote on KOS, while I very much respect anyone's right to censor their site, well I thought perhaps it was just as well because maybe I just did not belong here. I am one who believes in not censoring someone unless they are disrespectful, profane, or flamed people ~ which I hope anyway, I would never be to anyone!

But while hanging out with everyone after the funeral they encouraged me to try to talk to DU and see if I could re-sign up. So I emailed Skinner and explained the whole thing. He put me back on. As you point out, he says I am three years on here, but the truth was I have not been on here since 2002. I did not notice he had given me three years, how nice of him! What a sweetheart.

As for contributing more money, well I am a low income single mom, but I hope this will get better in spite of Bush-o-nomics as I went back to school. I now have a college degree in computer sciences. We will see as I am in "Dot Gone Country". LOL! I do volunteer my time though ~ this is the way I met Andy and I supported his work on voting accountability. At this time I am an Americorps volunteer and love it because I am giving back to my country and my community. I am trying to earn enough money to get my masters degree in social work and counseling when it is all said and done. Giving time is hard to do but I believe it might even be better than money, though I know funding is very important, all right.

At any rate, you have no idea how glad I am to be back! I really missed DU and I just love you guys! :toast:

30. Who will Bush have arrested first?
Edited on Wed Aug-10-05 12:04 AM by tblue37
Osama bin Laden or Cindy Sheehan?

This pertinent question was posed by Carrie Cann at Carrie's Bar & Grill
http://carriecann.blogspot.com/2005/08/who-will-bush-ha...

Tuesday, August 09, 2005

With apologies for having neither the time nor graphics-wiz abilities to repeat the whole post here, but over in puduland I'd like to offer a couple of possible frames of the Cindy Sheehan protest in Crawford.

Remember, the CIA's head guy on the ground is saying that U.S. intelligence did so too know for sure that Bin Laden was trapped at Tora Bora in December 2001. The only thing which prevented his capture was a lack of troops, courtesy Rumsfeld and Bush. So Bush could have had Osama arrested. And blew it.

So, pending developments as the week goes on: almost four years now into the War On Tara, who will George W. Bush have managed to arrest? Osama Bin Laden, or Cindy Sheehan?

Another frame that jumps out: the wide variety of human rights abusers and oil-soaked dictators Bush has happily made time for, even though he can't find half an hour for a grieving mother. . . .
