Bush's 'tribute' to Jennings
Monday, August 08 2005 @ 12:11 PM Eastern Daylight Time

MediaI saw Bush's brief remarks on the death of Peter Jennings. Went something like this:

'I heard about the death of Peter Jennings. Peter Jennings was a newsman. Peter Jennings covered important stories. Peter Jennings will be missed. God rest his soul.'

Then he walked off. The only thing missing was 'Now watch this drive...'

I got the impression that I was watching a third-grader giving a book report that he was neither prepared nor enthused about giving. Can we get someone with a little sensitivity and compassion back in the White House? Please?

1. I know
It was cursory at best....hardly worth the effort....

he totally lacked compassion or sympathy....or basic humanity.

5. Peter Jennings was also on BushCo's hit list of traitorous news...
...journalists and had he not succumbed to his illness, the Bush operatives would have taken him down fully! When Bush speaks in that manner he reminds me of Calvin Coolidge's manner of speaking. However, Coolidge could be counted on to make some sense when he opened his mouth:

Quotes from President Calvin Coolidge --

"The business of America is business."

"This country would not be a land of opportunity, America could not be America, if the people were shackled with government monopolies."

"No nation ever had an army large enough to guarantee it against attack in time of peace, or insure it victory in time of war."

"Don't hesitate to be as revolutionary as science. Don't hesitate to be as reactionary as the multiplication table. Don't expect to build up the weak by pulling down the strong. Don't hurry to legislate. Give administration a chance to catch up with legislation."

"If you don't say anything, you won't be called on to repeat it."

"Those who trust to chance must abide by the results of chance."
