How are people this stupid?
How is it possible our fellow citizens are not paying ANY attention to our country right now?

At a time when there is a reporter in jail for not testifing before the Grand Jury about TREASON IN THE WHITE HOUSE, nobody is paying attention.

What could possibly be wrong with all these people?

Although this is just the latest outrage, I still cant get my head around it.

How could they all be so stupid?

rant off/

3. Wow.
I like to go "undercover" on some conservative websites and check out their discussion forums, not only are they ignoring what is going on in America, but they BLATANTLY CHOOSE to ignore it! Ignorance is one thing, but ignorance by choice and a REFUSAL to even LOOK at the facts?!? Astounding. And boy oh boy do they have plenty to say about us! Geez...

They say things like "If they (being us) repeat the BS mantra of 'Bush is a lame duck president, worst economy ever, Iraq is quagmire' it will come true." for example. It's like HELLO? Have you Looked at the situation in Iraq, or Bush' approval rating, or the economy YOURSELF lately?!? They just vomit up whatever the right tells them as though it's their own truth!

4. Just willful ignorance, selfishness, laziness...
Seems that most americans have been brainwashed to actively avoid caring or knowing any damn thing about their own country or government.

It's all about "me, me, me" and their own little bubble of existence. They could give a shit about anything else.

Well. Something is very clear. Bush's political interests are in the top 3 if not the number one National Security Priority.

The corruption of this government is as obvious as trees on the Llano Estacado.

I saw them on my lunch break, driving their Yukon Denalis plastered with yellow ribbons.

I guaran-damn-tee you they know more about their possessions than they know about history, government, or foreign policy.

Read "The Land of the Bubble People". And weep for your country.

23. perception and motivation..one feeds from the other
Racism motivates the majority of Republican voters, especially in the south and among younger white males. These people believe in Darwinism, oppose "interracial" marriage, and think government must play a role in reducing the world's population. They feel that any social program, foreign aid, or racial equality only reduces the process of natural selection.

Most Republican males believe abortion and even some types of birth control should be made illegal because that lessens the effects of population growth. They feel that the benefits of technology should only be used to eliminate "inferior persons", thus surrendering more natural resources for command of the "fittest individuals." Thus Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security delay our unavoidable future..while only harming the "successful".

Naturally they don't sell these political views to the general public. Instead they contribute millions to the campaigns of those claiming to be conservative, pro-life, and probusiness. By being "prolife"..Republicans are "denouncing all baby killers" thus those "murderous, Godless savages without any values." They claim to be opponents of big government, but are in favor of a strong military to stop any possibility of stagflation caused by a growing demand for less oil. They believe in deregulation..a politically correct form of darwinism!

But how many of those who rant about 9/11 ever cried for these victims, how many see human life as more than a political football for beating liberalism? How many view democracy as dangerous..and power as a tool of morality? How many treat peace and equality as words for counterculture terrorism-loving McGoverniks..but war and homeland security as words only for Christian conservative patriots? :puke:

Isn't life wonderful? ;)

27. Not just in the South.
God, I get so tired of people constantly harping on the South for actions taken decades ago.

Racism is alive and well EVERYWHERE. It probably is even LESS SO in the South, where we've dealt with these issues, head-on, for more than 100 years.

That said, I agree with 90 percent of your post, but don't always fall back on "racism in the South." That's a cop-out.

29. actually I'm harping about present actions..
I didn't claim that the south alone is guilty of racism. But I believe racism is alive and well, thus making it a key force in Republican politics. Attacks on Cynthia McKinney and John Lewis are far more common among Republicans than attacks on Zell Miller or Phil Bredeson.

I believe there is a reason so many people vote Republican..but I doubt it really has much to do with big government, abortion, or flag burning. Some things just are not discussed openly enough. I also believe southern Democrats have provided the nation with a model of how these problems should be resolved. There is clearly a connection with Republican support in the south and racism, that is not a copout..but a needed acknowledgment of reality. The whiter southern counties gave Bush 65%-80% of the vote..even during a close national election.

I grew up in the south, and I love the south! This doesn't mean we should remain silent about these problems.

28. For decades...
... the moral police of America have been telling us that hedonism in the form of sex, drugs and rock and roll will be the downfall of America.

They were right about one thing, it is hedonism that is killing America, but not sex and drugs. It is consumerism. People have sunk into a trap of buying, buying, buying, trying, trying, trying to look prosperous whether they really are or not.

At this point that buying binge has resulted in a net savings rate of zero, big fat goose egg, nada, zip. We consume SO MUCH that without savings we have to get our money from foreign countries.

This situation is unsustainable even over the medium term, much less the long. People have stuck their heads up their asses and spent and spent and spent all their time trying to find a way to spend more.

Things are going to change in a big way in the next few years when the chickens come home to roost. Then, EVERYONE will be pissing and moaning about "how could this happen?" and "what have our leaders done?".

Americans get the leaders, and the country, they deserve.

30. It's very simple, and has been set up for the past twenty five years
Your average family has both parents working. Long hours, two jobs or both. Parents have to deal with the kids activities, rushed and harried. No time to sit down and read the paper, magazine, research the Net. They get home, have to take care of daily chores and stuff, and buy the time they are relaxed, they're tired and just want to veg in front of the tube.

MSM is controlled by those who are benefitting from the war, thus no real news reaches these worked out, tired out, stressed out people. Most of us find out what is really happening by research on the internet. Well, these folks don't have the time or energy to do such. And many of them don't have the resources to so either. Thus they are stuck with the MSM.

News these days, real news is something that one has to invest time, energy and resources in order to get the real deal. Most average families are lacking in at least one of these crucial items, thus most average families don't find out what is really going on, merely the pre-chewed, pre-digested pabulum that passes for news in the MSM.
