"rich liberals vow to fund think tanks"
At least 80 wealthy liberals have pledged to contribute $1 million or more apiece to fund a network of think tanks and advocacy groups to compete with the potent conservative infrastructure built up over the past three decades.

The money will be channeled through a new partnership called the Democracy Alliance, which was founded last spring -- the latest in a series of liberal initiatives as the Democratic Party and its allies continue to struggle with the loss of the House and the Senate in 1994 and the presidency in 2000. Many influential Democratic contributors were left angry and despairing over the party's poor showing in last year's elections, and are looking for what they hope will be more effective ways to invest their support.

1. more productive to get fair elections
10000 right wing thinktanks can't change the outcome of a fair election.

10000 left wing thinktanks can't change the outcome of a rigged election.

4. What difference does it make if the elections are fixed ?
Come to think of it. What are we even going down to Crawford for? Why do we even discuss anything. Because if the elections are fixed to the degree that many people think, we are only wasting our time on all these other issues. Because nothing gets done but by vote and if we are destined to forever be the minority, as some suggest, what's the use to discuss anything?

6. But if these machines are all fixed...?
What's the use? Why even vote at all? Why waste our time going to the polls?

10. we must be able to compete...
it's a nice idea to have a bunch of grass roots liberals to rise up and guide our party back into power. but in the real world you need money, and lots of it.
