Falwell's 'Vote Christian' Criticized
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050810/ap_on_re_us/falwell_statement

LYNCHBURG, Va. - A Jewish organization is calling on the Rev. Jerry Falwell to retract a "vote Christian in 2008" statement made months ago in a letter raising money for his ministries.

The criticism of Falwell appeared Monday on the Web site of the Anti-Defamation League, a group organized in 1913 to fight anti-Semitism.

Falwell, founder of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., and Moral Majority, included with his mass fund-raising letter for Falwell Ministries a sticker that reads, "I Vote Christian."

Abraham Foxman, the Anti-Defamation League's national director, said Falwell's statements are "directly at odds with the American ideal and should be rejected."

2. Can't we separate his church and the state?
Please? The mere inference of "you are either voting for who we recommend or you are not christian and are excluded" is sickening.

3. Both parties are full of it, IMO
Falwell, as we all know, is a complete idiot.

The Anti-Defamation League is just now finding this, and has nothing better to do with their time than accuse Falwell of anti-Semitism?

PUH leez! It must be really slow over at the ADL offices of late.

6. Wonder what would happen to his "ministries" . . .
if they lost their flippin' tax exempt status? Nothing wrong with church, but when an orginazation that claims tax exemption, based on its status as a religion, starts politickiin' . . .

Right. Like it will ever happen under the current regime.

Not.

9. I vote Christian
I vote against war, because all war is sin.

I vote for candidates who will take care of the lost and the least.

I vote for candidates who recognize that we are all children of God.

I vote for candidates who will not favor one religious view over another.

I vote for candidates who are humble.

I vote for candidates who love justice and mercy.

Obviously, I never vote Republican.
