Let me guess: RW is in full "It was Clinton's fault" mode (NYT article)
I have been away from the news channels, RW radio, DU for a couple of days and I saw this story in the front page of the NYTimes yesterday (going into a store). From what I have seen on MSM no mention of it yet.

Funny that this comes out just in time for the slow news month-ready made to dominate the radio/TV screech shows all month, huh?

1. Military intelligence was not allowed (by law) to discuss
its knowledge of Al Queada operatives in this country due to laws that were executed according to the Gorelick procedures. This is true largely because the four suspects were in the country legally and had committed no crimes in the US (and they were not wanted for crimes abroad).

Two things will be intentionally omitted by right wing spinners like Limbaugh and Hannity:

1) The Gorelick memo was reviewed by the Ashcroft Justice Department and found by this Bush Administration to be the propoer procedure- they could have changed procedures had they seen problems but they gave it thumbs up!!!

2). The laws that were executed by Gorelick were written in the 70's after Conservative Republican War-mongering thug, Richard Nixon, had used intelligence assets to illegally spy on Americans for his own (not national) purposes. These laws were written because this country found that conservatives could not be trusted with the office.

4. does US imperialism differ under Dems versus repubs???
what we have in this country is an elite ruling class that controls American foreign policy for their own greedy profits ... the conduct of our trans-national corporations, especially big oil, the presence of US military forces in otherwise sovereign countries and our almost total lack of American understanding for and appreciation of foreign cultures all leads to a mistrust and a hatred for the US ... IF 9/11 was not a MIHOP or a LIHOP, and the jury is still out on that in my book, this hatred of America transcends Democrats versus republicans ...

blaming Clinton or blaming bush really is not the issue ... we get entangled in a political debate on which one of them fell asleep on duty ... and those behind our imperialist foreign policy laugh at us (all the way to the bank) as we distract ourselves arguing back and forth ...

the question is NOT on whose watch this occurred ... the question is WHY it occurred ... if we want to analyze the actions of presidents, perhaps we should ask what each one did to restrain the exploitation of those with the real power and the abuses they impose on other countries around the world ...

5. Oh yeah
I keep KQRS (fm 92) (Minneapolis) on my clock radio because the jerks on the morning show rarely fail to say something that annoys me so badly I leap from my bed to shut the radio off. This is a classic rock station with what I believe is the highest rated morning show in the Twin Cities.

This morning the lead DJ, Tom Barnard was all over this and it's all Clinton's fault. No mention of Clinton's team warning the Bush team that they needed to watch Al Qeda, no mention of the August 6 memo. I got out of bed in record time today.
