Maybe I'm thinking about the wrong guy.
Isn't Conyers a senator?
Done well going that route, haven't we? (with an apology to Stewie)

6. I admire the man greatly, but he doesn't do television very well |
|
It is no longer possible to elect a president if they don't look and sound good on television.
Unfortunately, that is Mr. Conyers' Achilles Heel.

I would love to see Congressmen John Conyers in the White House. Would also love to see Congresswomen Barbara Boxer as his VP.

My bad... I was just thinking Congress in general, instead of Representatives and Senators..
Here, I deserve it: :spank:

10. The wonderful John Conyers is currently 76 years old..... |
|
which would make him nearly 80 by the swearing in ceremony.
I don't know about you, but the stresses of the presidency would most likely wear down his health.

The guy is not a suited ego like the Senators and his heart is in the right place. I could support Conyers with enthusiasm. I do not think that he has sold his soul to America Inc. like all of the Senators have.

16. Look, I love that man but get real: |
|
1. He'll be in his late 70s in 2008;
2. He sounds like he's already in his late 70's at the very least--his speech is so slow it borders on aphasia.
John Conyers is a great, great man, but do you really think an old Black man who talks like someone fighting the effects of a stroke has any chance in hell of getting the nomination, let alone winning the office?
Congressman Conyers has much better sense than you--he's given no indication whatsoever that he's considering a presidential run in 2008. He's doing an absolutely f**king great job exactly where he is.
I'm sorry to be so blunt, but some of you need a serious reality check.

17. Thank you for saying that. |

As admirable as Rep. Conyers is, it is not realistic to think he could be nominated, much less elected to the Presidency.
