So how did Camp Casey/Aurora go? |
|
Of course, the Fable News Whores aren't giving it up. Anyone have news from Aurora?

I got there at 10 am (had to work in the morning and didn't get there as early as I'd have liked).
By 10 most of the protesters were moving away from the major intersection of Rt. 30 and Orchard Rd. towards the Caterpillar plant entrance. I would guess that there were 100 people at least. Several people stayed at the main intersection to draw attention to the vast crowd down the road a bit.
I stayed at the intersection and during the 90 minutes I was there we had a lot of honks and friendly waves from passing cars. By 11 am many of the people who had been inside the Caterpillar plant listening to * were coming out. The waves of people coming out of the plant drew a lot of the other protesters back out to the intersection, and everyone got to "mix it up" with them as they had to walk right past us to get to the parking lot. All parties were friendly and polite - there were no verbal brawls. The police were excellent and professional.
From comments made by those who had been inside to hear *, there were at least 3000 people inside. I would say we managed to reach most of them plus a lot of street traffic.
I saw at least 6 signs specifically mentioning Cindy Sheehan in the crowd.
There was A LOT of press (no tv so I can't check if any of it made the news).
Yay! My first post on DU.
