Bill O'Reilly's attack on Cindy continues (she declined to appear on show)
O'Reilly : Cindy Sheehan Controlled By Far Left Elements

August 10, 2005

http://www.newshounds.us/2005/08/10/oreilly_cindy_sheehan_controlled_by_far_left_elements.php

Cindy Sheehan decided not to appear on The Factor tonight so Bill O'Reilly predictably attacked her again. This time, he painted Sheehan as a victim of "far left elements" who are exploiting her for their own purposes. O'Reilly announced with a sneer that Cindy claimed that she would not appear on his show because he had lied about her last night. Acting as if that was a ridiculous notion, O'Reilly began another smear of Cindy Sheehan. However, his plans were ruined by Dolores Kesterson, another grieving Mother and brave patriot.

Using his all knowing and tolerant tone, O'Reilly claimed that he supports Cindy Sheehan's right to express dissent. Then he bashed Maureen Dowd for glorifying Sheehan in her column today. The Baltimore Sun also got a knock for praising Sheehan, prompting Bill to dismiss it as an anti Bush paper. Bill was especially ticked that Cindy Sheehan was "using" the Michael Moore website acting as if that was a shocking and subversive thing to do. Prompting him to ask his viewers, "If you were Mr. Bush, would you meet with Cindy Sheehan."

Then O'Reilly introduced Dolores Kesterton who did not bend or back down throughout the interview. Her son Eric died in Iraq and had been an unwavering supporter of the administration. Kesterson claimed that she had been against going into Iraq because she believed we should have finished the job in Afghanistan.Although O'Reilly tried to intimidate her into saying that Eric had died for a noble cause, Dolores would not give an inch.

Kesterson went on to describe the meeting she had with Bush after her son's death. She requested time alone with him and was granted three minutes in a tiny cubicle. According to Kesterson, Bush marched in and "was in my face"..."I'm George Bush, President of the United States and I understand that you have something to say to me in private." Kesterson was not impressed with the meeting claiming that Bush did not seem to care. At this point O'Reilly decided to use the lecture/soliloquy technique. Using his fatherly tone he told Dolores that he respected her opinion but didn't want to see her used like Cindy Sheehan. "I think Cindy Sheehan is being used by far left elements who object to our way of life. Everyone knows. Hillary Clinton knows."

could stoop so low. It was another thread, I think the point was that the GOP wouldn't DARE trash this woman as it would be political suicide.

That's the difference between them and us; they shoot first (even if its their own foot and ESPECIALLY even if it's 1000% mulemuffins) and ask questions later. They'll attack no matter WHAT the backlash/fallout might be. We, to our detriment, worry so much about others perceiving us as poor sports (never mind that we're armed with truth AND the moral high ground)and, thus, losing our precious elected office. Look at what Dr. Dean has to go through; he makes passionate statements that are dead-on and he either gets chastised or distanced by fellow Dems. It's a shame.

Amen and hallelujah to Sheehan, Dean, Conyers, and groups like the Congressional Black Caucus, DU, and MoveOn!

20. That's the..
.... gist of it my friend. Slowly but surely, Dems are waking up to the fact that attack politics works in modern America.

IMHO, you'd have to be plain stupid to not see it, but we have glorious leaders in our party who apparently don't :)

18. The problem is that Cindy Sheehan is not a victim.
Their attacks will not work because she is not. She is not asking for people to feel sorry for her. SHe is asking that the administration and the nation take responsibility for this unjust war.

5. "far left elements who object to our way of life"...
Edited on Thu Aug-11-05 02:27 AM by impeachdubya
...what the fuck does that even MEAN?

If our "way of life" is waging pointless, brutal wars based on bald-faced lies, yeah, I guess I do object.

If our "way of life" is trampling the bill of rights at home, detaining people without trial abroad, engaging in horrible acts of abuse and torture and covering up evidence pertaining to the same, yeah, I guess I do object.

If our "way of life" involves letting companies like Halliburton bilk the treasury for billions while contractors haul money earmarked for Iraqi reconstruction out in duffel bags, as the deficit shoots through the roof and 45 million citizens have no health insurance, yeah, I guess I do object.

But those are NOT what I was raised to believe this Nation is all about.

11. I think it means
that while we should always PREACH morality, we are in no way obliged to PRACTICE it.

IE, Rush, preaches the evils of drugs, but does not practice what he preaches. Slams Clinton for not being in the military without revealing he is a cowardly draftdodger who supported the war.

O'Really, preaches family values and waves finger at Clinton for having affairs, but doesn't practice it, cheats on his wife with at work. Slams Clinton for not being in the military without revealing he is a cowardly draftdodger who supported the war.

Lots of examples. But O'Reilly and Fox, hate radio, and rightwing diatribe in general, are all becoming less relevant every day. They were better off when their tactics were new and rational people couldn't believe anyone could lie to the extent that they do. But that's no longer the case. The public is apparently fed up with their tired, old, lying, hypocritical rhetoric.

O'Reilly slamming Cindy might have had some impact two years ago, today it doesn't have much effect except on the hopelessly indoctrinated. If anything, O'Reilly slamming anyone anymore is a badge of honor. No one should go on these shows ~ starve them for guests. Let them talk to themselves.

Edited on Thu Aug-11-05 03:34 AM by Zinfandel
To perhaps, and hopefully try and stop the insane killing BushCo's imperialistic greed and forcing "our way of life" and military power down their throats, for profit?

The non-threat of a sovereign country being destroyed and in complete turmoil, again, simply for profit...Halliburton, Bechtel, GE, Carlyle, Oil Companies, Weapons-makers and other tax exploiting companies in Americas name.

Was Cindy Sheehan suppose to bow to O'Reilly's demand to appear and be trashed and leave her heart felt reason for being in Crawford TX? Peacefully there and to simply ask Bush, what his so called "noble cause" her son died in Iraq for?

Or was it because O'Reilly can't and won't accept someone who is dedicated enough, without consideration for monetary gain, (which republicans have no capacity to understand), to fight back in the only way she knows how and can?

Does O'Reilly want to distort the facts, because Michael Moore knows it's the right thing to do, to amplify Sheehan's loss and plight and to help make others become aware of the distortions, smears and lies that this patriotic American has endured and has subjected herself to...Not to mention, it is her Constitutional right and civic duty as a citizen to do so, to question our government, who offer no answers?

What has O'Reilly done? But, to trash anyone who dares question the Bush machine...While making millions of dollars while at the same time whoring for them?

O'Reilly sickens me to no end!

13. Our blood is a red threat when it cuts into his and Bu$h Inc.`s corporate
profits. And that is exactly why they need to keep our troops blood flowing. 1st ammendment rights be damned if is not a rabid right-winger espousing their convictions. This man makes excuses for torturers. He is trying real hard to be the lowest of the low. Reimplementing the "Fairness Doctrine" would put a halt to his gravy train and he knows it. So suppressing any talking points to the left of his beloved dictator Bu$h is a must.

First, his guest backfired on him. Also, last night you couldn't find a story on Cindy Sheehan on cable news. At least we couldn't, and we were looking. But it's O'Reilly who helps to publicize it. You have to love that.

just so I could inform him that there are more people watching Spong Bob Squarepants than HIM :)

Last time was a nightmare, if you've ever been interviewed by this clown they have you from the start, sitting in a dark room staring at a black box with a big light over your head and a nut screaming in your ear.. didn't even give me a monitor..

later it looks like you are having a conversation, while it's actually more like a CIA interrogation..

plus their greenroom, at least in LA looks like a bunch of monkeys were screwing on it, sickening..

Next time tho I want to actually be across from him so if he gets out of line I can grab his tie and let him know that some people don't suffer bullshit so readily from punks like him..

37. You did pretty well against him
I remember it. The thing that he threw against you about NPR being a liberal organization was such a non sequitor that anybody would have been thrown (and that's his tactic. Throw out some crap when you're losing the argument - which he was - and expect a normal person to try and answer it, but as it's crap, they're at a disadvatage by even trying to dignify the crap with an answer, and he regains the upper hand).
He's the worst scum on TV, and I have huge respect for you for going into the belly of the beast. :loveya:

He could have been toast by simple ponying up a few million for those phone sex tapes. As usual the left doesn't want to "resort" to those types of tactics. Time has passed and Phone Bill is up to his usual shit.

If O'Reilly would have been a Dem and railed on night after night on cable TV Repukes would have destroyed him in five minutes. Those guys play for keeps,Dems just shrug their shoulders and hope guys like Limbaugh and O'Reilly will all go away. Yeah right....

Her first words should be that she'd like to send those items to him since he likes them so much. Then ask him about his Peabody. Then when he asks her a stupid question, yell "shut up!".

She could then ask him about his war experience....as a journalist on the beach. Then say that he is utterly irrelevant and his ratings are in the gutter.
