Is The RW Floating The "They Volunteered" Meme To Counter Impending Draft?
Put this in the "Rove is always 3 steps ahead" file, but I wouldn't be surprised if the RWNM is floating this "tough luck, soldier, you volunteered to get killed in Iraq" meme in anticipation of the coming draft. That will give them the excuse to ship their kids off to Europe or Canada: "it's not like they volunteered for combat duty...the government is trying to force them into service when we have plenty of volunteers available...what about free will and every American's right to choose what they want to do? That's why my son is in Europe right now, doing the kind of work that supports our troops on a different and much more important level. Now, if you volunteered, then you have no right to expect that you won't be shipped off to Iraq..."

If DeLay can say that he didn't go to 'Nam because the minorities hogged all the good spots, why not the above logic for today's chickenhawks?
