DNC supports Sheehan: "Patriotism In Action"
Patriotism In Action

As most of you know, Cindy Sheehan, mother of a soldier killed in Iraq, has been camped outside the President's ranch in Texas hoping to meet with him face-to-face. "War President" Bush plans to be on vacation for the month while others in Iraq continue to die, and has thus far flat-out refused to meet with Sheehan, instead sending aides in hopes of diffusing the situation.

But even if the President won't meet with her, she still has the support of the American people, right? Mostly, but not from all. While she does have overwhelming support from many people across the country, conservative partisans are attempting to smear Sheehan, knowing the public-relations problem her quest creates for the vacationing Bush. One conservative commentator claims that Casey Sheehan, her son, wouldn't have wanted his mother to wait for the president - absurdly professing to have better insight into what he would've wanted than what his mother does. Conservative websites have taken past quotes of Sheehan grossly out of context (simply ignoring quotes that contradict their claims), and tried to paint her as someone who has changed her story - even though she has not done any such thing. Conservative TV hosts have mocked her and tried to belittle other mothers who defend her.

Cindy Sheehan's personal pain is unimaginable. The courage it takes to camp out on the side of a dusty Texas road in honor of her son is only matched by that of those who serve in Iraq. Those questioning her should be ashamed of themselves and should stop putting grossly partisan politics ahead of common decency. Instead of supporting a grieving mother, they want to publicly trash her because the loss of her son and her personal pain reflect poorly on the President.

The President should meet with Cindy Sheehan - he owes it to her, the troops in Iraq, their families at home, and the American people.

3. That's a blog. Where are Dean, Kerry, Kennedy, Pelosi, Clinton, etc.
I'd like thear the "big dogs" bark real loudly on this. Have they? If so, I'm a happy camper.

This is something that makes Bush look like a total weakling and coward. ..afraid to meat with an upset citizen. He's hurting himself every day and, everyday this goes on, Bush risks a catastrophe given the unstable nature of some of his supporters. Who knows what's up in their minds. Bush should fall to his knees and thank God that the Clear Channel insult party didn't take place.

Let's hear from our higher ups.h

5. Tell them. Here's a link-
http://www.democrats.org/page/petition/chairman

I've been writing each day to get strong support, explaining that there is NO downside and that it's the RIGHT thing to do.

This is blogged on the DNC site. - I can't imagine *anything* goes on there that isn't officially sanctioned, but write and ask for a higher profile.

10. I "shared" with DNC -- thank for the link Rose Siding.
To: DNC

What are you folks thinking about Cincy Sheehan? Here's what I'm thinking as are many of my Democrats. This incident shows what a weak man George Bush is, hiding out from a "Gold Star Mother" who just wants to ask him a question. Cincy Sheehan is putting it on the line in Texas. What are you doing?

This is just another example of weak, short sighted behavior by DNC. I'm a Yellow Dog Denmocrat -- I vote, work for, and give to Democrats. If I noticed this, who else is noticing.

Why do you guys blow the easy ones?

Why don't you get Paul Hackett from Ohio in to do a consult for you on how to talk to and about Republicans.

btw, I'm beginning to think that Dean's been replaced by a clone, known only to the Illuminati:sarcasm: as Dean 1.1. Certain cognitive circuits have been blocked in the new model and problems with the "beta test", i.e., truthful comments spoken with authority, have been repaired. Don't flame me, I like Dean a lot, I'd just like to see him fire a bunch or the do-nothings and start kicking ass. Screw the "establishment" bureaucrats! It's time for action.

7. This was being discussed on local AAR radio this morning and
I DID think the same as you before listening to this conversation.

But what they were saying is that this movement started by Cindy is actually MORE powerful, because it is the power of the people.
It is not being influenced by Hollywood, or by politicians.

It is the people of this country uniting to send a message to this administration.

Face it, if Kerry or Clinton showed up, Cindy's message would take on a new meaning. Maybe there would be more msm, but I don't think it will help Cindy's cause.

After hearing that discussion, I changed my mind. Let Congress take their vacation, and let the "people" take care of business for a change.

That's the typical "liberal line" that keeps us on the bench, IMHO. Nobody from DNC should show up there, that's for sure. Senators, Representatives, why not? There should be a strongly worded statement from DNC and other Democrats, just like the 14 house Democrats did. That didn't cause the end of the world. Who on AAR was saying this, I mean, which "surrender monkey."

I'm proud of my political positions as are you, no doubt. Why isn't our party proud and wiling to speak up.

Oh my God, Democrats actually stand for something--They made a public statement and didn't check with Republicans first!

8. This is an Apt analogy
"Cindy Sheehan's personal pain is unimaginable. The courage it takes to camp out on the side of a dusty Texas road in honor of her son is only matched by that of those who serve in Iraq. Those questioning her should be ashamed of themselves and should stop putting grossly partisan politics ahead of common decency. Instead of supporting a grieving mother, they want to publicly trash her because the loss of her son and her personal pain reflect poorly on the President."

I like the comments below this commentary on democrats.org..

"Dean said during his campaign that he wanted to turn a flashlight on Washington and watch all the cockroaches scurry for cover. He was criticized at the time for calling people cockroaches (personally, I love his bluntness), but how far is it from the truth?"

"The cockroaches are scurrying now! Thank you Cindy Sheehan!"

Wonder what the dlc has to say about Cindy Sheehan?

11. Yes, and now use this statement to help separate the Dems from RNC
We cannot just keep bashing the non-electorally-dependent Liar in Chief. They MUST use this to show how WRONG the Repukes are if they are going to have any credibility with the American voter. Dems are running against the Repuke Senate, House, Gubernatorial, and local races. Separate from the Repuke position and paint them as the liars they are. Don't say they are participating in "grossly partisan politics". Instead, identify them as Republicans who are trashing her.

Do it now, or lose DNC.

This statement is a fine start on the road to victory.
