Drudge gets "Dan Rathered": posted a letter from a Sheehan "relative"
Edited on Thu Aug-11-05 03:41 PM by Julius Civitatus
and blasted his siren claiming that one Cherie Quarterolo, who claimed to be the aunt and godmother of Casey Sheehan, was chastising Cindy and was "speaking for the whole family" in her support for Bush and the war in Iraq.

Well, guess what?

After all the panting, all the feverish spreading of this alleged letter that "proved" that even Cindy Sheehan's family was "against her"...

THE LETTER WAS A CRUDE HOAX!!!!

Matt drudge had to remove the fake letter from his site!

Oh, Matt! Did you check the kerning of the letter first?

Matt Drudge: Hoisted in his own slimy, stinking petard!

:applause: :toast: :applause: :toast:

Update: The story has now changed a bit, and it's back on Drudge's main page with a different explanation. The "godmother" is out, and a bunch of anonymous "Sheehan relatives" are in, apparently writing anonymously to Drudge against Cindy. Right...

Now I'm-a tell you one.

A freeptard walks into a bar with a pig under his arm. The bartender says, "That's some ugly beast you got there."

The freeptard says, "I love my pig."

The bartender says, "I do, too. I was taking to the pig."

60. Cindy explained on another thread that her husband and his family
were die-hard Bush supporters, so they being repugs, made a concentrated effort to make Cindy look real bad - sad to say that politics can so devide a family- Casey is dead and they can't find a neutral ground.
Why do you think her husband isn't with her in Crawford?

In response to questions regarding the Cindy Sheehan/Crawford Texas issue:
Sheehan Family Statement:

The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our President, silently, with prayer and respect.

Sincerely,

Casey Sheehan's grandparents, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.

18. Folks on Atrios' comments said that now Drudge is claiming
that "anonymous sources" have confirmed to him the following:

- that "cherie quarterolo" exists and is the godmother of Casey Sheehan

- that "cherie quarterolo" speaks for the entire Sheehan family.

It's all crap. Drudge is on a crusade against Cindy Sheehan (he needs to earn his Scaife dollars), and would use anything against her, even a fake hoax of a letter.

47. A Godmother Is Not A Blood Relative
To be a godmother, Cindy would have had to designate her as such, and since he is now dead, she is no longer the godmother, even if this hoax were real. Godparents are designated so that when the child is a minor , if the parents die, the godparents will assume the responsibility of ensuring the child's religious ties with the church, not any other responsibilities. While a godparent can be a relative, they often aren't.

Check it out. This is what the slime-bots are saying:

"Many of the relatives do not want their names made public, and will not be making further statements."

So they make an anonymous statement in the name of the entire family? This smells of Drudge a mile away.

of Cindy Sheehan.

http://www.secondbreakfast.net/archives/002082.html

How are they holding to an anonymous letter as "evidence"? They claim the relatives of Cindy Sheehan want to remain anonymous in this conflict.

See how easy it is for the freeper logic? The relatives of Cindy Sheehan would go as far as making a written statement and fax it around to all the right-wing slander media machine (Drudge, Limbaugh, etc)... but they sign it anonymously because they want to remin anonymous.

BULLSHIT!!!!

If they really wanted to make an statement and call Cindy to stop, they would sign it with their names and do it on CNN or any major media outlet.

Barry Crimins is here. Hot damn.

The soldiers who did the walk-up aren't around right now. Cindy's spokesman is likewise unavailable because his wife is suffering heat stroke. I will catch up on the letter thing and get a statement when I can. I know they are aware of it.

The cars parked along the side of the road are stretching beyond view, and more are coming. The crosses in the Arlington West cemetery stretch nearly as far. Everyone is settling in for the remains of another day here in the ditch.

She says 7 families are with her and 62% of Americans believe this war was a mistake. She reiterates all the reports that have come out in past year showing that we went to war on false pretenses. Says Bush won't meet with people who disagree with him and if he really had compassion he would go out and meet them. She is going to stay there all month she said. Nothing about this supposed letter from relatives to Drudge.

48. Perhaps Matt has EGG on his FACE Now??? Hmmm?
(SNIP)

Egg on his chest?

Online columnist death match! Walls and Drudge duke it out on Page Six; a post-apocalyptic Doors musical? Time to set the stage on fire. Plus: The Muppets return!

- - - - - - - - - - - -
By Amy Reiter

I knew the brawl between online gossipists Jeannette Walls and Matt Drudge would get ugly, but who could have predicted allegations of a smeared egg sex fetish?

Certainly not me.

The bickering began when Walls printed the well-circulated rumor that Drudge is gay in her new book, "Dish." The scuffle escalated when Drudge accused Walls of a pattern of inaccuracy; and finally took a turn for the preposterous late last week.

"My father once warned me against getting into fights with nuts," Walls wrote in her MSNBC column last Friday. "'Passers-by won't know which of you is the crazy person,' he said."

Her dad makes a very good point. But nevertheless, Walls couldn't resist taking a swipe or two at Drudge. (Remember when he posted those fake stories about Sidney Blumenthal's wife-beating and Bill Clinton's love child? Well, thanks to Walls, now you do.)

"Hello, I'm sorry," Walls tells me. "I'm a bit of a junkyard dog. Don't pick a fight with me, please."

What's more, Walls says she finds it "hypocritical that a man who has become a spokesman of the far right has led a lifestyle at odds with the ultra-conservative values he supposedly embraces." And she finds it "ironic that a man whose entire career has been based on revealing the sexual behavior of others has a sexual history of his own that he now seems at pains to hide."

And what pains! After Washington landscaper David Cohen confirmed to Daily News columnist George Rush that he did, in fact, date Drudge, as Walls had reported, and after Walls hinted that she had refrained from printing even more "lurid allegations" about him in her book, Drudge seemed to get a little panicky.

After a mutual friend of both gossipists tipped off Drudge as to just what these "lurid allegations" were -- a nasty case of pubic lice, a penchant for fully clothed sex in the shower and a bizarre egg fetish -- he began to spread them himself.

"MSNBC reporter Jeannette Walls is telling associates that she has obtained information linking Matt Drudge with a sexual preference for eggs," Drudge wrote on Friday in a column that has since vanished from his site, along with his link to standing Walls column ("Oh, that hurt," she scoffs). "He likes to have sex with eggs. He likes them smeared all over naked male bodies."

Drudge even went so far as to print Walls' home phone number, work number and e-mail address on his site and to ask readers to share their own "Drudge sex stories." (All false, he says: "How can I be when I am dating a woman with boobs and rollers?" To which Walls counters: "Hello, 'boobs and rollers'? You just proved your heterosexuality beyond doubt. I'm sold.")

But, although Walls says she was "absolutely inundated with phone calls and e-mail ... some from people wishing me a slow painful death," Drudge's distraction tactic may ultimately have backfired.

"I know sometimes the best defense is a good offense," she tells me, "but you gotta be careful you're not hitting yourself in the face."

Walls stands behind the allegations, which she thinks never would have made it out if Drudge hadn't aired them.

"It's all very well sourced," she told the New York Post's Page Six. "If he offers you a bite of his omelet, take a pass."

Splat!

So what now? Walls says she's ready to back off. "I pride myself as being someone who won't walk away from a fight," she tells me. "But this looks a little bit more like a temper tantrum."

Then again, she says, "I am a scrapper. If he wants to pick another fight, honey, I'm up to it."

And Drudge? He's playing it a little closer to the vest. Asked to comment on the recent Page Six item detailing the scuffle, he responds: "Page Six rocks! So do you ..."

Well, I certainly wouldn't mind if that was the last word on the matter.

The name error was likely a typo....typical freeper. Anyway, it is her sister-in-law who wrote the email and Cindy said that her and her husband have not spoken to that side of their family since they chose to vote for Bush. She said they have always had political differences, but they became to much to bear after they supported the man responsible for her son's death.
