Are you a member of your local party?
I was just wondering how many DUers are members of their local democratic parties or clubs. Joining them can help reinvigorate parties and can help them to be more progressive so I hope most DUers are.

4. Absolutely. Love my local club.
Great people, fun, active. I belong to several other Democratic/Progressive groups although I am relatively new to club activism. I starting joining up in April 2004.

14. Yes, I was a Precinct Captain last election
And I go to most of the meetings.

However, I'm very disappointed in my local party here in Reno. They are mostly in denial, I think.

Here's an example. I received a call today from a teacher that volunteered at my house on election day. She calls me from time to time to get the scoop, and chat about politics, because she knows she can say anything to me without her feeling like she's wearing her tin foil hat.

She had called the local Dem office today to find out if they were hosting any activities (peace marches, protests, etc.) in honor of Cindy Sheehan. The person she talked to didn't even know who Cindy Sheehan was. Man, I was so disappointed to hear that; my heart sank.

Obviously, I've got some work to do here!

19. Like a lot of city dwellers...
...I also have a residence in the country. I am currently involved in democratic committees in both. Since we have a governors race this year it takes up most of my time and I enjoy every minute of it. I can't think of anything else I'd rather be doing!

I think it's important for all of us to realize that if you want to change the government, it's not enough to just change president. You need to work for change at the lowest levels. From your own county on up.

Time spent arguing and speculating about 2008 is a waste of time and energy. Use that time in your own state and community. If there are no elections at this time see what else is going on. Check out your local Sierra Club and see if there's something there you can be doing. Stop a Walmart or strip mall...whatever.
