Austin atty may file lawsuit to allow protesters to move closer to Bush

On Internet chat rooms and blogs, some organizations and soldiers' relatives are criticizing the protest, saying participants are trying to promote a left-wing agenda and lower troop morale. They say Sheehan does not represent their views on the war with Iraq.

"You have hundreds of people protesting there; you have thousands upon thousands who are not," Becky Davis of Orrington, Maine, who has three sons in the military, told The Associated Press. "A lot of military families I've talked to think it's almost sickening to watch."

But protesters say they support the troops. "We can be proud of our soldiers and ashamed of our government at the same time," said Tammara Rosenleaf, whose husband is stationed at Fort Hood and is to be deployed to Iraq this fall.

Austin attorney James C. Harrington, director of the Texas Civil Rights Project, went to the site Thursday to make sure the group's rights were not being violated. He said he may file a federal lawsuit seeking to allow the protesters closer to Bush's ranch.

1. Half of Americans didn't vote in 2004...
But I'm sure Becky Davis is fine to let bush say Americans gave him a mandate.

Selective logic. Can't beat it.

2. You know what is sickening to watch...?

A country abandon its best principles and shove its head up its ass and rush to war on fear, ignorance and manipulation. That's what's sickening.

7. ROFLOL. I'm still laughing!
Could be. She better stalk up her supplies and prepare for a rough ride.

4. Ya gotta love them "Austin City Limits."
I watch that show on PBS. I've been exposed to a lot of new and different music watching Austin City Limits. Maybe it's time they expose Bush to some new and different sounds.

5. My mom used to get upset at the protestors against the Vietnam war...
while my dad was in Vietnam.

Today she hates Bush, views Vietnam as a big moral and strategic disaster, and hates that this country rushed to repeat the same mistakes.

It just took here a while to wake up back then.

8. I wondered why they had to stay 5 miles away.
A public road is just that: PUBLIC. You'd think they could park themselves right next to the private road to the "ranch."

9. Cindy's message is HER 's! It doesn't matter who disagrees or agrees
because the focus should be on her right to DISSENT, to get that message out, and unfortunatly since few have taken the wherewithall to do so, exercise an individual's responsibility for PUBLIC oversight to make Bush ACCOUNTABLE!

Sure she's a grieving mother.
Sure she's upset others who disagree with her.
Sure she has thousands who support her.
Sure the pResident and his cabal despise what she represents--and FEAR HER FOR HER CAPABILITY TO GET ATTENTION against heavy odds.
And surely, the world is watching. . . .

This is why Cindy's effort is so compelling for dissenters; she's giving us an effective voice, a voice of compassiion and of rationality. How dare we align ourselves AGAINST the misanthropes of this administration. How dare we not be silent.

Keep it up; be loud and speak truth to power, show your compassion with all the noisy conviction possible. That's what this is all about. And this moment must not slip away. Minimize the liars and their messages as you would a window screen on the computer--you're not forgetting it's there--but CELEBRATE the dissent which separates the ideology of us from them, and the OPPORTUNITY TO DO SO NOW. Carpe diem; Cindy is.
