Mother demanding answers about Iraq gets a response from Bush

CRAWFORD, Texas - (KRT) - By Thursday, President Bush could no longer ignore the grieving, angry mom camped outside his Texas ranch.

"I sympathize with Mrs. Sheehan," Bush told reporters Thursday after more than a week of intense media focus on his uninvited visitor. "I've thought long and hard about her position. I've heard her position from others, which is, `Get out of Iraq now.' It would be a mistake for the security of this country."

Not surprisingly, the answer didn't satisfy Sheehan, who vowed to continue her vigil for the duration of Bush's five-week visit to Texas. "The president says he feels compassion for me, but the best way to show that compassion is by meeting with me and the other mothers and families who are here," she said in a response distributed by e-mail. "Our sons made the ultimate sacrifice, and we want answers."

Down the road at the western White House, Bush acknowledged as much. "She has every right in the world to say what she believes," the president said. "This is America."

31. And not a single one of them did what their job required them to do
in a crisis on 9/11. That's the first thing I think of whenever I see that motley crew all gathered together.

like going to Iraq, when the guy who supposedly "masterminded" the WTC and Pentagon attacks was in AFG.

He probably couldn't find his ass with both hands.

This is America. Our president is not above us. Especially so with the present occupant . . .

7. That's one freaky picture
Why is Cheney wearing a jacket? It's friggin Texas in mid-summer for gawd's sake. That might be Ed Asner though.

Bush's new image continues to freak me out. He looks very odd in every picture I've seen this week.

What the hell is Cheney wearing that coat for?????? It was hot and humid today in Texas.

Ice runs through his veins to that cold black ice block where a heart should be, I guess.

19. 3 Guesses about the coat...
1) It's hiding several layers of kevlar

2) It's covering up a portable iron lung/heart machine

3) A basket of kittens! Yes, cute adorable kittens! To be used as either a distraction or... snacking.

/needs to stop watching 3 hours of Buffy a night...

but where is Cindy in this picture?

His response is clear, parsed correctly it is--
"I am frightened to meet you and terrified of how you will make this whole debacle look on national TV."

10. Media Has a Script Quite Apart From What Bush Is
I knew it. This is the threat of a totally corporate-owned media. This same series of events--Bush almost being criticized publicly by the people, Republicans taking polls to confirm it, Bush doing a flip-flop and pretending "sympathetic emotion" or some such, and the media acting as if it were real, no one referring to anything that actually happened--will now play itself out, over and over and over, forever until somebody can get our public airwaves back.

Every Democrat who expresses sympathy is called "grandstanding" and "playing politics"; every Republican is called "generous" and "courageous." Democrats are always "partisan"; Republicans are always "rising above politics." Democrats are always accused of the worst; Republicans are always pretended to be acting out of only the best intentions. This is why it is hard to fight them--because you have their media setting up the plot-by-plot scenario of how it will be told, and with what attitude. Our fighting is "whining"; their brush-offs are "responding to critics." It is not "framing," but total media ownership and control, and you will never again have a truthful telling of a story until this world of interlocking capitalism can be broken up. Yeah.

13. Here's my take
2 - Fat boys
2 - anorexics
1 not sure

I have gained a lot of weight in the last year, possible diabetes, but probably too much Diet Coke. I can not afford the complex health diagnoses and personal trainers that these guys can, so, why are they like this?

Huzzah! cries the lapdog media. Our president is kind and generous to the little people.

And the "news" folks wonder why their ratings and circulation numbers are falling . . .

16. MJ We are
Look at the news stories that have been coming out fostered by the blogosphere. I watched C-SPAN until until they jumped the shark, the last month or two. I just got sick of their political propaganda.

And, that mentally ill, Boston violator, who kept getting through and on air, several times a week. C-SPAN is not worth it anymore.

Translation: It's hard work. It's hard. It's hard work. It's hard . . . ad nausem . . . ..

"I've heard her position from others . . ."

Translation: I'm so fuckin' stupid that I'm admitting in public that I don't give a rat's ass and can't be bothered to figure this out for myself. It's hard work . . .

20. He responded to the press. Not Cindy.
He knows she will ask hard questions that will demand hard answers and too much hard work for the dumbass lazy heartless bastards. Cindu is willing to say You lied and the press is not. Also they were closer to Bush than Cindy. Now if the press really wanted to help. They would refuse the inside invitation. Set up behind Cindy. Then tell Bush If you want press coverage. {Jangling a triangle}Come and get it! Any Cowboy* would yell YEEEE HAAAA! and come running. After all this is the man that would not let a terrorist attack interupt his photo op. I think he would go for it. Bush is a poll Junkie and he needs his press fix.

My Apologies to the Real Cowboys for attaching the title to a poser like Bush.
