Cindy Sheehan holds sign as presidential motorcade passes...but not shown

Fri Aug 12,12:53 PM ET

Anti-war protester Cindy Sheehan is surrounded by cameramen and reporters as she holds up a sign for President Bush as his motorcade passes on the way to a political fundraiser near his ranch in Crawford, Texas, Friday, Aug. 12, 2005. Sheehan, president of Gold Star Families for Peace, has accused President Bush of lying about the war in Iraq which claimed the life of her son, Army Specialist Casey Austin Sheehan. The U.S. death toll from the war is now over 1,800, and a new AP-Ipsos poll shows the lowest approval yet for Bush's handling of Iraq, just 38 percent. (AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)

6. I believe about 100
I think that's what I heard on MSNBC about 5 minutes ago. I love how the momentum is growing.

I am stunned that he would not just come out and see her. Had he done that early on, I believe people would have seen him more positively. Now he just looks like an unconcerned presdient (which he is).

11. An emotionally detached president
He probably won't meet with Cindy. That would mean humanizing the loss of life in Iraq. With this administration's brutal policies, the only way they can operate is to be emotionally detached. Hence, Casey has no name, he is just "the loved one". Our president does not really want to know of anyone's grief. The simple fact is, it is easier to send young men to die in an unjust war if you don't ask yourself the question: "what if it were my child over there?"

What a pathetic, misguided little man.

14. Dubya returns from $2million fundraiser after spending
Edited on Fri Aug-12-05 02:08 PM by flpoljunkie
These folks don't get much from Dubya for their minimum $25,000 donation to the
RNC--but this is the way he operates--drops in, goes through the motions, then goes home. But this time, he has to pass by Camp Casey.

At 1:25 the motorcade returned from the fundraiser and the crowd chanted "Meet with Cindy!"

AP article:

Some 230 people attended the fund-raiser at Stan and Kathy Hickey's Broken Spoke Ranch, a 478-acre spread next to Bush's ranch. All have contributed at least $25,000 to the RNC, and many are "rangers," an honorary campaign title bestowed on those who raised $200,000 or more for Bush, or "pioneers," those who have raised $100,000 or more.
