Poll question: Best Democratic Party Official to go to Crawford in Support of Cindy
Edited on Fri Aug-12-05 01:08 PM by paineinthearse
Which, if any, Democratic Party official, should go to Crawford in solidarity with Cindy?

Re the "delegation" choice below, see http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2001260 These are the 38 Representatives who have signed Rep. Conyers' letter to * urging him to meet Cindy.

Re Kennedy & Kerry's call for * to meet Cindy, see http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=4328607&mesg_id=4328607

edited typos.

6. They'd just accuse him of another Flip-Flop
Send a real anti-war Congressman. Dennis Kucinich.

2. Every elected Dem in Congress and Senate
should be there and demand an answer and exit strategy from Bush, imo.

5. I wouldn't have even thought of it without the option
but I say none. The reps and senators have had plenty of chances to challenge Bush officially, and most all have failed to do so adequately. I think the protest here is strengthed by the fact that it is being done by an individual, and by citizens, entirely apart from any political party or organization.

9. I completely agree!!
If politicians show up, it will just fuel their accusations that Cindy is doing this as a political move. Her fight is non-partisan. She is asking for a one on one meeting with the man she holds accountable for the murder of her son. We need more average citizens to support her. That is the only thing that will keep public opinion sympathetic to her cause: End the occupation of Iraq and prevent any other parents from feeling the anguish.

12. They can mention that they support her
But the second they start showing up and getting face time it becomes about them.

7. A reminder however, that this is not a partisan issue. We need all parties
to come together on this. 60% of America is against the war-- they cannot be only Democrats. We all- regardless of party affiliation, should be bombarding our elected officials now demanding answers and that we pull out of Iraq.

15. Senator Allen
This was not meant to be a partisan poll, perhaps I'll do another with names of likely rethugs.

But you are right, Conyers said he and Allen were forming a coalition.

Don't remember which, but it is in the audio file associated with either http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1997498 or http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=1997376&mesg_id=1997376

Any other names come to mind?

14. Opinion is running about 50/50, very interesting
I can see the reasons for each argument, no wonder there is no stampere to Crawford.

For the record, I voted for the delegation of 38. My second choice is Rep. Miller.

20. Citizen vs. President
The politicians have failed to stand up to Bush in a forthright manner on Iraq, let this be a citizen battle. The politicians should stand to the side and wait to take action when this comes to a head.

Meanwhile, they can be crafting their response, their plan on what to do with Iraq.
