DeLay's Press Release in response to Pelosi: "pure nonsense, irrational"
Statement from Majority Leader's Press Office

8/12/2005 4:48:00 PM

To: National Desk

Contact: Kevin Madden or Ben Porritt, 202-225-4000, both of the Office of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay

WASHINGTON, Aug. 12 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Kevin Madden, spokesman for House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) issued the following statement in response to Rep. Nancy Pelosi's (D-San Francisco) criticism of a citizen coalition event Mr. DeLay will attend in Nashville on Aug. 14:

"Rep. Pelosi has a habit of slinging criticism that is pure nonsense, but to criticize a speech that hasn't even been delivered yet is quite irrational.

"It's interesting to note that Rep. Pelosi was silent while sensible Democrats in her party were standing up to criticize an ad that smeared Judge Roberts and his good reputation."

Justice Sunday II sounds more like a church event to me.

As the nation prepares to enter into what promises to be a battle royal over the future of the Supreme Court, the Family Research Council and other pro-family organizations have announced an event designed to mobilize and energize Christians to take head-on the issue of judicial tyranny.

"Justice Sunday II: God Save This Honorable Court" is scheduled for August 14. It's more than a reprise of April's "Justice Sunday"—a satellite and Internet telecast to churches around the nation asking them to help overturn the Democrats' blockade of the president's judicial nominees and to bring back an "up-or-down" voting process for all judicial nominees.

Justice Sunday II is about the battle over the U.S. Supreme Court, according to the event's organizer.

edited to add: This "citizen coalition event" will be held at Two Rivers Baptist Church in Nashville
