I keep hearing the SOB's will start a war in Iran |
|
since the polls are low, and this is what they have to do, but why? The American people won't go along with another War, we have no troops to fight, and please tell me no more people have to die!!!!

1. I doubt that there will be... |
|
... anything resembling an invasion (there simply aren't enough ground forces for that), but that doesn't preclude a sneak attack to destroy the various nuclear facilities and the Bushehr reactor.
Under the War Powers Act, the president could do this on his own if there were a determination of imminent danger or if he were responding to an attack (either situation could pre-empt a request to Congress). So, all the Bushies would have to do would be to trump up an attack and proceed, then report the whys and wherefores to Congress later. Or, alternatively, give Israel the go-ahead to do it.
We now know that Bush started the war against Iraq almost four months before gaining a resolution from Congress, and almost ten months before the official start of the invasion.
If they decide to do it, Congress will likely not have a say in the matter.

2. I can say two things to that: |
|
1. It's an incredibly stupid idea, given that Iran is a real country with real armaments, not the divided, weak, defeated palooka that Iraq was.
2. Just because it's a stupid idea doesn't mean Bush won't do it.

4. Iran was a bigger goal than Iraq. The reason we invaded Afghanistan |
|
was to have access to the eastern border of Iran. They will try.

5. There is just so much information over the internet that it's |
|
overwhelming even for those of us to try to keep up. I think Bushco plans have all been built around that damn oil pipeline; the countries it needs to go across are Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and Syria; all the countries Bushco has mentioned need to be attacked. Their agenda is so transparent it's not even funny, yet without the media pointing these things out, the average everyday American can not or will not connect the dots. The thing that scares me most is Cheney's blustering about nuking Iran. That will open the door for any other country in the world to nuke us, and I believe they would do it just to put America in its place. Cheney needs to have a serious heart attack soon, and I don't normally wish bad on anyone, but this guy is a danger to this country.

6. But the reason why we invaded Iraq instead of Iran still holds true: |
|
Iraq was weak and available and falling apart, Iran was strong.
Nobody was planning on the US's position, militarily and politically, to be so much weaker after an Iraq invasion, or the Iran government's to be stronger.

7. Spec ops have been on the ground there for months. They may even |
|
be behind the big explosions there last month.
But don't look for a major ground war again.. expect nukes to come out.
