I want to go to Crawford next weekend... |
|
As an former Army reservist and Iraq Vet of the infamous 800th MP Brigade I think I can be a big help and get positive press. The problem is work and finances for me. The cheapest plane ticket I can find is $400 from West Palm Beach to Dallas. I only have from Fri to Sun. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get a really cheap ticket??

5. Waco is a two hour drive from Dallas or Austin-- |
|
it's nearly a halfway point. It's probably a little further from Houston. Use whichever airport you can get the best price.

Check to see if you can fly Southwest. They fly into Love Field & usually have the cheapest flights. AA, Continental, United, etc, fly into DFW. Unless you can get a straight flight into Austin, it makes more sense to fly into DFW because chances are, you'll have to make a connection in Dallas anyway. Then rent a car & drive to Waco. You can get other directions from the Crawford Peace House www.crawfordpeacehouse.org
I'm considering going next weekend myself. :)

9. Southwest normally gives great fares to Houston Hobby |
|
then they have an inexpensive flight from Hobby to Love Field.
it would add more travel time, but might save some precious dollars for those on a tight budget.

the wright amendment prohibits southwest from offering flights from love field to states other than those that border texas. dfw & american airlines claim it will irreparably damage their business if the wright amendment was repealed, which i can't believe they can state with straight faces because dfw is a huge airport.

8. Southwest is the cheapest carrier |
|
but it doesn't appear that they have a direct flight from West Palm Beach into Dallas Love Field.
You could fly into Houston, then take a short flight from Houston to Love Field.
Looks like if you buy 7 days in advance you can get $99 fares one way.

10. $109 each way from Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood, FL to Austin, TX... |
|
using Southwest. http://southwest.com/hotfares/hotfares_air.htmlI know it's not your ideal airport, but it's also not extremely far from where you live. In any case, good luck in getting there and many thanks for your service. :)

12. that might work out better for you |
|
i'm flying into FLL for a cruise out of Miami. Since Crawford is about half-way between Dallas & Austin anyway, this looks like a keeper fare.
