Are the Democrats going to use the Diebold machines to win re-election in 2006?

With republican approval, those democrats who have rubber stamped the bushites' policies can easily overcome any challenge from a progressive who embodies the real ideals of liberals.

IF NOT, THEN WHY HAVE THEY NOT FOUGHT FOR PAPER BALLOT AND FAIR, ALL-EMCOMPASSING ELECTIONS?

2. kick, kick, kick

Last year it seems Dems cared. This year I meet fewer and fewer Dems that care about this.

Seems to me that people don't want to believe what is obvious. Democracy ends where proprietary software begins.

3. Nothing changes

Nothing will change until Repuke control of the election system is stopped. I have one of the best Democratic senators out there and he thinks optical scan ballots throughout the state will eliminate the problem. I sent him the reasons why that is not true, but apparently his staff hasn't informed him yet.

4. Dems who don't care

My attitude is starting to be that if this doesn't change (i.e. no paper trails) then it really WON'T matter how much we legwork we do beforehand, how much money we donate, or how we vote ... American elections will be nothing more than theatrics, like sham elections we always used to laugh at in dictatorships ... nothing more than a photo op for the powers-that-be to say to other countries, "See? We're a democracy. We have elections." Yeah, right ... if all the "winners" are decided beforehand and the vote counts manipulated to fit that scenario, then it really doesn't matter.

I know that is very depressing and that's why verifiable voting is the most important issue we can push. If we don't, nothing else we do here will matter at all.

And I've thought about leaving this country more than once so if someone has a comment like "if you want to just quit, then leave" ... trust me, I've considered it.

EDIT: And my state is saddled with one of the worst Dempublicans ... Lieberman.

6. I'm with you. My little protest about Dems not screaming about

the obviously flawed voting system is to NOT DONATE to anyone. The last election I donated far more than I could really afford only to see the election stolen; not only stolen, but so obviously stolen, and the Dems just rolled over. I know it's still being worked on, but it's been in the works since Bush's first (se)election and the only one who seemed to really care was Andy. I'm very frustrated by the Dems in Wash attitudes and will not donate a dime to anyone. They're all rich as Hell, and I'm giving money to them. Not anymore.

5. All members of Congress may as well vote to give themselves

lifetime tenure, AND a raise. Because, regardless of their party affiliation, they're all feeding very well at the public trough and the status quo is ok with them. Killing Diebold at the national level would require a major fight and almost all dems lack the stomach for anything more serious than play fighting to impress their brainless constitutents.

I'm just saying that a major catastrophe in DC might not be such a bad thing for America. Clean sweep of career politicians, global "sympathy" and all the benefits that would come from it.

I can't help but take Ralph Nader's tack on this. The Repubs and by and large the Dems in Washington are more interested in their real constituents, the lobbyists, than they are in the American people.

The GOP refused to let the vote make it on to the floor.
Changing the way we conduct elections- such as demanding paper ballots-- requires congressional approval. Do you honestly think that they would want to give up the good thing they have now and allow our election process to actually reflect the will of the people? No chance. AND they will continue to rig the machines as long as we are using them. 2000 was the beginning. 2002 was when they begin to rig the machines. I'm in Florida- trust me- I know all about it. 12. Term-Limits

We need to find a way to get Term Limits for Representatives and Senators into the U.S. Constitution. Maybe we need to run for Congress ourselves.
