Should Cindy Sheehan run for Feintein's seat in 2006?
I heard rumor in the California forum she might run. I can't stand Feinstein anymore. Do you think Cindy could win??

5. She's a citizen.
Theoretically, that's all it takes in America to represent the people of your state and nation.

6. What were Hillary's qualifications for running for the Senate in NY?
Other than being Bill's wife.

What was the Chimp's qualification for Governor of Texas, other than being a habitual failure in business?

Cindy Sheehan is at least as qualified as either of them. And more likely to vote properly than Feinstein.

Not to say she's remotely interested, of course. But it's obvious that some replacements are needed in the Senate, and CA is one of them.

9. Hillary had practiced law and certainly had quite a bit to do with
Bill getting elected President. She knew more about politics and government than Ted Kennedy did when he ran for the Senate. He was the little old loser brother and he's done okay.

I know nothing about Mrs Crawford and she may be immensely qualified.

8. What are Dianne's except
Born well off, marry a super rich coporate pig, sell out to the downtown developers and luck out by having a right-wing asshole kill the extremely popular Liberal mayor of S.F. while sitting as the Prez of the Board of Supervisor -- becoming mayor when there wasn't a chance in hell of her ever getting elected mayor in S.F.

Dianne HAS NO QUALIFICATIONS!!!

11. Candy, very good question, but
I can't help but think of the MORON we have for president and all the incompetent white house players. And also, we can't forget Jesse Ventura, who won for Governor of Minn., certainly he wasn't qualified to hold office. I once heard that Texas is a state that doesn't even need a governor to run it. Now I believe it!! I think anyone but another lawyer would work well for the people. Someone who identifies with plain old working people and understands their issues.

7. That would depend on how well she campaigns, and on her other views.
There are dozens of other issues that she would need to talk about. Rarely does a one issue candidate win.

He anti-Israeli comment will have cost her the support of the Jews.

15. From another DU poster.
There is an entire thread about it. She is supposed to have said that Israel should get out of Palestine. Since at present, Palestine refers to that general part of the ME, then she is saying that Israel should cease to exist. If by it she means that Israel should withdraw to the 1967 borders, then she still loses Jewish support, and a lot of middle of the road voters.

16. I think you are reading far too much into that alleged statement.....
....especially without a direct quote of what she actually said.

One interpretation of such a statement would be that Israel should pull out of territories generally thought of as Palestinian today i.e. Gaza.

There's nothing remotely anti-semitic about such a statement, and any "Jewish" vote she would lose for that reason would probably be voting pro-PNAC/pro Likud anyway. Thankfully, they are in the minority.

21. I agree with you,
Silverhair was very unclear in his/her answer. So I didn't give it much weight. I don't think it is wise to make those kind of assumptions about a person without knowing the facts. Frankly, it sounded pretty ridiculous.

17. Isn't that sad that a bit of truth about Israel makes the lemmings turn
away. Are Jews not able to hear truth? I kind of think many of them could handle it.

13. No...She Should Not
...the thing that makes Cindy so special...is that she is one of us. She is a simple American...the kind of person that makes what she is doing so special. I would hate to see her become a "politician."

18. No more calls, we have a winner. I couldn't agree more.
This may be the finest point in time for democracy in a long, long time,

A citizen taking it to the powers that be gives me hope that the nation will survive this hideous administration.

Let the woman speak; forget anything else. This may be a powerful moment in American history.

19. Well said!
It's also important to remember, like it or not, DiFi has a solid base here in CA, and we need to keep all the Senate seats we have. We can't afford to lose any now.

Cindy Sheehan has enough on her plate.

22. Kerry, at the very least, we could give old
Diane a little competition. Maybe then, she will realize that she is not so untouchable as she thinks. Wouldn't that feel good in the primary?? Certainly it wouldn't hurt!
