Something strange is going on...
Edited on Sun Aug-14-05 08:51 AM by liberaliraqvet26
It looks like the message of the day is to beat up on Rumsfeld. This could explain the mixed messages we've seen this week. Maybe he's going to be the sacrificial lamb?

Anyone else see this, or am I going nutty?

6. I don't think they'll martyr *
Horrifying fact: Dimson is the most human face of this administration of ghouls. They've built an elaborate structure to pull the strings while * is the puppet. He's their fig leaf and they can't afford to get rid of him. The fig leaf is tissue thin and quite worn around the edges, but they'll cling to it.

2. Rumsfeld said, about ten months ago...
... that he wanted to step down by June, 2005. He hasn't, and I suspect that's because Bush has insisted he stay on. They've had ten months to find a replacement for him. That could mean that no one wants to inherit the shit Rumsfeld has created, and doesn't want to cover for his departed ass after the fact.

So, perhaps, the reality is beginning to catch up to Rumsfeld a month or two after he expected to be gone.

I don't think he's being thrown to the wolves. I think the wolves have just finally caught up with him. :)

3. Nutty
They've done it before. Many times. Rumsfeld even "offered" to resign twice, and he's still, to this day, making plans for global hit squads.

When guys like Kristol start dumping on Rumsfeld, it's just to mess with people's heads. "Oh, look, they don't agree." No, they agree. They may not agree on every detail, but it's the same as when you have a guys like Wolfowitz and Brzezinski "disagreeing". They're both for the same thing, but the way to go about getting it may be a little different.

4. I thought the "plan" was to have Rummy leave at the end of the
summer or something like that. I remember reading that a few months ago.

5. "Anybody else see this?" --Anybody else see WHAT?
What are you referring to?

And please say what you think the "mixed messages" are.

I agree that they may be looking for a sacrificial lamb. Or two. They could actually use a whole flock of them at this point. (I wonder if they have entrail readers in the WH basement.)

8. well..
the mixed messages are the top generals talking about a pullback then shrub dismissing them as "rumors" days later. the generals didn't make these things up they got approval to say that from someone.

on this mornings talk shows i've heard critism of Rummy by all parties including prominent Neocons like Bill Kristol on faux. im thinking he might be the first to be a sacrificial lamb to place blame and help shrubs numbers.
