Is Bush Out of Control?
By DOUG THOMPSON
Aug 15, 2005, 05:46

http://www.capitolhillblue.com/artman/publish/article_7218.shtml

Buy beleaguered, overworked White House aides enough drinks and they tell a sordid tale of an administration under siege, beset by bitter staff infighting and led by a man whose mood swings suggest paranoia bordering on schizophrenia.

They describe a President whose public persona masks an angry, obscenity-spouting man who berates staff, unleashes tirades against those who disagree with him and ends meetings in the Oval Office with “get out of here!”

In fact, George W. Bush’s mood swings have become so drastic that White House emails often contain “weather reports” to warn of the President’s demeanor. “Calm seas” means Bush is calm while “tornado alert” is a warning that he is pissed at the world.

Decreasing job approval ratings and increased criticism within his own party drives the President’s paranoia even higher. Bush, in a meeting with senior advisors, called Senator Majority Leader Bill Frist a “god-damned traitor” for opposing him on stem-cell research.

Is this true or not? Who knows but its great reading!

1. Dems need to pile on this
They need to force a public meltdown of spectacular proportions. With an unbalanced personality like *, it's very possible.

2. How much would we love to see a public meltdown on TV?
I hope to see him disolve in a puddle of piss, vomit and crap as the weight of what he has done sinks in... all in public on tv.
In reality it would prolly scare me no end to see this happen, but I still want it hehe.

And I know from being sober for a long time myself that untreated alcoholism, even if the person is not drinking, is horrible. "Dry Drunk" is the word they use for it. But from the pictures I have seen I am convinced that some of his drunks are really "Wet Drunks"

So here's the conundrum. I can't stand to watch him, but that's the only way to tell if he means what he's saying. Oy!

7. Interesting thing about Doug Thompson
He knows a shitload of people on the Hill; he used to be a staffer years ago and then a reporter. He takes some great pictures, too. Now he is kinda semi-retired.

He used to be an ardent, avid, hyper chimp supporter, to the point of total irritation, frankly. Then one day he woke up and just said "Bullshit!" He styles himself as a Libertarian...but since the 00 elections, he has gone from "Support the Chimp" to "Depose the Chimp" in rather dramatic fashion. He thinks Congress is a den of thieves (not wrong on that, really).

This is not the first time he has suggested that monkeyboy is heavily medicated and off the page.

My take: his sources are good. He's been around for a long time.

67. Welcome to DU! I think you're correct about this.
Once he's certified as dead meat - and it actually could take his leaving office before that happens, maybe even all the way into the next presidency. By then, you'll have a long series of shameless, mewling, pathetic Johnnie-come-lately mea culpa books from Judy Woodruff and Andrea Mitchell and Tim "buy my book" Russert and Wolf Blitzer and Katie Couric and John King and Candy Crowley and Dana Milbank and a whole slew of "reformed" whores who'll whine in print about what obnoxious bullying lying bastards populated that White House and what an awful, repressive, mean ol' regime it was and how miserable it was to have to cover these goons and how many complaints they all got from the White House thugs and the Vice President's office and rove's office every time one of them even gave the barest hint about stepping out of line and how scared and intimidated they were and fearful for their jobs and their careers and how they just SO SO SO BADLY WANTED AND DESPERATELY LONGED AND YEARNED to tell the truth but just couldn't, or didn't dare. 'Cause their poor widdle selves were afwaid!!!! And waaaaaahhhh, poor-widdle-me, boo-hoo-hoo. It'll be like the Simpson jurors, and evidently now, too, the Jackson jurors, who are now busily and piously trying to absolve themselves from having done one world-class, short-sighted, self-serving, criminally shit-ass poor job. Just watch Editor & Publisher. They'll be all over it.

I'd bet we're gonna see this. We're also probably going to see every one of them, like reformed drunks, resolving loudly and sanctimoniously that they'll never let any White House get away with this crap again, and their brand new spines will grow into place at just about the same time a Democrat gets back into the Oval Office. THEN they'll be rough and tough and hard-bitten reporters, resolved to look out for "the people's business."

I tell ya, as a retired reporter, there are no words to express how disgusted and utterly revolted I feel toward most of my former colleagues. They should be ashamed of themselves. Because the wreckage and mass murder and capital crimes and mortal sins this bastard has committed - all of it - THEY allowed. THEY enabled. THEY excused. THEY helped. THEY collaborated. They covered up. The blood and guilt and sins and crimes are all on THEIR hands, THEIR heads, and THEIR consciences. Every last one of them who could have done SOMETHING, ANYTHING to stop this and didn't - EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM IS AS GUILTY AS HE IS. And every last one of them will eventually have to answer for it, AND pay for it, just as he will.

Bush's Erratic Behavior Worries White House Aides
By DOUG THOMPSON
Jun 4, 2004,

President George W. Bush’s increasingly erratic behavior and wide mood swings has the halls of the West Wing buzzing lately as aides privately express growing concern over their leader’s state of mind.

In meetings with top aides and administration officials, the President goes from quoting the Bible in one breath to obscene tantrums against the media, Democrats and others that he classifies as “enemies of the state.”

Worried White House aides paint a portrait of a man on the edge, increasingly wary of those who disagree with him and paranoid of a public that no longer trusts his policies in Iraq or at home.

“It reminds me of the Nixon days,” says a longtime GOP political consultant with contacts in the White House. “Everybody is an enemy; everybody is out to get him. That’s the mood over there.”

This is, in my opinion, much more damaging than the other articles.

25. Oh, yes he was
You forget, Nixon was too drunk to take phone calls from world leaders at times, he was sobbing, talking to paintings, and insisting that Kissinger, a secular Jew, get down on his knees and pray with him....Nixon was AFU, too. Heavy paranoia! And guilt to go along with it!!

He even avoided a subpeona by claiming his phlebitis was too severe--he could have been deposed from his hospital bed. Then, he got his pardon, and he slipped away, only to return as a foreign policy whiz, though on a much smaller scale...and then he died.

26. I'm seriously worried about his mental stability.
And not so much about Washington, but in Crawford. I think the reason they send him on these outrageous '5-week vacations' is because they know he's fragile mentally.

So what happens? Cindy Sheehan and company arrive, right on his doorstep. This is an instant downer, because now he has to justify what he does all day long, in particular when he doesn't meet with her. The fact is, he CAN'T meet with her. Cindy Sheehan has publicly announced that she's going to debate him - something he's not able to do right now.

Next, the Sheehan group sets up 1,800 white crosses. If Bush was teetering on the edge before, this will be the death knell. Here, in his pristine protected environment, the deaths that he has caused are in his face. It's got to torment him. Friends, family, cronies, they all see them too.

This is very dangerous for his mental state.

66. Oh shit... you just brought up a REALLY strong point -
"Having a mother out there angry with him must bring up all kinds of Barbara yelling at him memories."

You bring up a VERY powerful point. I'll bet you're just absolutely SPOT ON about that. Deep down, I bet he hates ol' Bar for her tyrannical rule of the family, and still struggles against the "wimp factor" against his father, and the whole macho swaggering Texas cowboy crap he's embraced. SERIOUS pathology here. So many of those in his White House just now make me think of some serious overcompensation problems...

Also, there's been so much speculation that the reason this schmuck runs off on these carefully-managed, relentlessly sequestered vacations is because he needs the time to dry out.

HOW LONG DO WE HAVE TO STAY IN THIS HOSTAGE HOLD?

I've never forgotton the first ? press briefing the bushgang had after the coup d'etat. It was held in a smallish room in the W.H. and the press filed in down one side of the room, facing smirk and the whole lot of them seated beside and behind him.

smirk was looking at the press but everyone else beside and behind him where looking at him with an awful intensity. as if they thought he would sprout a second head at any moment.

there must be a video of that meeting. it was brief. smirk said what he said and dismissed the press. I think it was the first time the press was stunned by the new reality.

I have read * on the Couch, by Justin Frank and what you describe hits the article right on. This is why they will not leave him alone with Cindy, she has good instincts and he probably would let his guard and she would really see him for who he is, much more than previouly. Remember the 2000 election when * and darth vader didn't know the mike was on and they called someone a jackass or asshole, can't remember which one? Remember when he didn't like a reporters question and just walked off stage? Remember the opening of the Clinton Library, how he tried to squeeze ahead of Clinton? These are only a few instances of how this egotistical, world's got to revolve around me, bastard acts.

I can't believe how the sheeples ever fell for him!

I don't believe the 2000 election was even close, to tell you the truth. It was stolen all the way, just as 2004 was.

41. So what happens when
the "puppet" takes control?

I have no doubt that early on Dubya was just an absolute puppet being run by Cheney and Rove. But I think the ego has taken over and now the puppet is rebelling against the puppeteers. I think that might be behind the CHB stories. He has realized that ultimately, he has the power and he is using it and it scares the crap out of the real puppeteers.

Just to be on the safe side, they pump prescription sedatives into the old boy so he WON'T take hold of the reins.

An interesting though.

if someone can get a video of this shit, I'd take it seriously but otherwise this could be a bunch of crap. Not that I don't find a grain of it believable but it just reminds me of Rathergate. In case get the left to believe that Bush is going off his rocker and bringing Bush down is just around the corner.
The 2004 election's over, let's focus on winning a democratic majority in 2006

62. You could be right about this being a red herring....
but I still think we should focus on Sept 24-26th and the getting the message to Washington DC that IMPEACHMENT IS the WILL OF THE PEOPLE in numbers they can't ignore. 100,000 - 200,000 at a minimum will be there that weekend protesting the war in Iraq and calling for him and other war criminals to be impeached.

I think that getting these louts out (and that means we keep going from Bush to Cheney all the way down to Hassert) means that our work to bring the DEMs to the front in 2006 will not be hindered by all this black box crap and shady dealings. We have to behead this multi headed political beast through legal means so that 2006 will be a legal election. I believe we have had the majority since 2001 and definately in 2004, and even Republicans are leaving their party because of what has gone on.

84. In MN we have Republicans that try to get along among others..
I went to a town hall meeting with Jim Ramstad and he stood toe to toe with about 100 or so pissed off voters in Edina's council chambers. We grilled him about the war and corporations not paying taxes and the energy bill and cafta.

It was hard for him, but a lot of us gave him props. At least he had more guts than the pRes and he has voted against the party line and for his constituents. Well, maybe it is only so he can get re-elected, but as long as he really takes care of his responsibilities to his voters I don't care why... just that he does and that his voters are keeping him in line.

For instance he's trying to get that emminent domain issue brought back up in a bill because he believes it's unconstitutional for the government to abuse their power and take people's property away.

He voted against his own party for more funding to public schools because he knows MN would roast him alive if he didn't.

Still when I asked him about the hidden riders in the Energy Bill he blanched. He never said if the provision to lessen restrictions on export of weapons grade uranium was in the bill when he signed it or not, but I doubt it... and I think he had a real understanding of how dangerous that provision is to him and every Republican who wants to get re-elected as well as potentially everyone who wonders what the hell Haliburton is doing in Iran giving aid to our soon to be Enemy.

He lied about going to war and proved he was incapable of prosecuting it. His accomplishments will be:

* 3000 Americans dead because he didn't bother to pay attention to intel..
* Turning a $500BB budget surplus into a $500bb deficit.
* Destroying a reasonable vibrant economy with his welfare to corporations and the 2% wealthiest.
* Failure to get OBL
* Lying about a causus belli with Iraq.
* Killing 10's of thousands of innocent Iraqi's and thousands of US service men.
* Spending $300BB on a fool's war.....and see the price of oil go from $28.00/bbl in 2000 to $70.00 now.*
* Stealing 2 elections he deserved to lose.

He is a spectacular failure as a man and as pResident.

* House of Saud and House of Exxon-Mobil appreciate his work here.

81. The CHB guy or our pREsdent?
I have a couple of fiends inside the beltway, who, shall we say, are pissing blood and vinegar about the new Foreign service de-certification. To be honest, it has affected them very badly. THEY, in turn, have fiends in DOD, State and CIA, who seem to confirm the CHB story, in a way that scares the living daylights out of me.

Could this be merely retribution for their politics and an effort to change FS into an proBush SS? very possibly. But, on the other hand, I wonder.

61. Devil's advocate....
If I had painted myself into the corner Bush has painted himself into I think I would be raging too.

Here is a man who has to be in on things or get stabbed in the back by some of his shaddier co-horts, not to mention how hard it must be to sleep at night having done the things he has done. Sleep depravation leads to mental stress, ongoing fatigue and irritability.

Just keeping up with half the shit this administration is dishing out has me up at nights, sometimes until dawn trying to get a handle on it and I don't have to make decisions about how to screw America today. Whatever I do is part of the upswell in human outcry that Bush can feel tickling the back of his neck everytime he takes a step in any direction.

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve what he's getting, just that it might not be insanity or dementia, just simply his natural consequences for making the choices he has.

Still, if I had some magic wand and it could be determined that all these who are bent on destroying this country could simply be healed and join in the effort to rebuild... I'd wish it could happen. I'm realistic. I doubt there's any chance, but although those people and their actions make me sick to my stomach, I'm not as angry as I was when I started learning about all their deceipt.

I literally would not have pissed on Bush if he were on fire in front of me. Now, I would do the right thing and cuss myself out afterward. I feel like in getting over my anger at him at least to that degree, where I don't see red whenever I think about him.

It isn't that I want to let him off the hook for the things he's done, but I'm beginning to believe that anything I could do or say to him is miniscule compared to the simple rebound affect of "what goes around comes around."

Whether it's God, or our collective higher consciousness, or just nature his behaviours are offensive on every level and will come back to haunt him and all his little cronies. I have faith that he can not resist the accumulated will of the people and that our collective spirit is breaking down the walls of their sheer defiance.

Does that mean my job is done? Far from it, but I feel like I could stand there impartially and hear the facts and simply make a decision based on the facts without even caring enough to hate him anymore. He's had enough of my energy in that way.

He and his rabble need to be impeached, but I'm not going to enjoy his every humiliation, because that would bring me down to his level and if I'm not going to be about more than that, I'll STILL be part of the problem and not the solution. THAT goal is more important to me than his just rewards.

A criminal in the stocks he will be, but I won't be throwing things at him. Give him too much of an excuse to feel sorry for himself. I'll be too busy working with others to fix the nation he broke.

The President of the United States is out of control. How long can the ship of state continue to sail with a madman at the helm?

RayGun's staff managed to cover up for RayGun -- he was showing signs of Alzheimer's disease long before his wife admitted it.

But bushie is worse -- much worse. bushie has his finger on the nuke button -- and right now he has Iran or Syria or maybe North Korea in his sights.

He is crazy -- and he could care less about the suffering his mistakes are causing individuals (like Cindy Sheehan) or whole countries -- like Afghanistan & Iraq. Problem is that he has installed crazies just like himself who have been busy purging anyone who disagrees with bushie's "gut feelings".

Once the real stories of the "real" bushie start coming out -- and people will be telling stories -- there is no way that someone as crazy as bushie can be covered up forever -- everyone will say -- yes they knew he was crazy.

I've been predicting bushie will have a public disintegration -- he may have had several small episodes -- but the media whores aren't telling. The DU-ers who can listen and watch the bastard have been detecting visible signs of a slow disintegration.

One thing I've noticed is few people are mentioning his smirk.

He is nuts -- completely nuts -- problem is he has surrounded himself with like minded nuts -- Cheney, Rice, Rummy, Bolton, etc. etc.

I distinctly remember reading an article about him in Time or Newsweek in a doctors office back when his dad was in office and ready to campaign. The picture the author painted of * was as a vindictive, hot headed, screwup who his dad could count on to keep the rank and file loyal to the cause. Article also said that Poppy had hopes for Jeb to become president, since he was the brighter of the two.

One of these days I need to look that article up.
